We are seeking a Business Development Representative (BDR) to join our dynamic sales & business development team that can deliver consistent revenue & growth and long-term success while carrying out our company’s mission, vision, and core values. Five Seasons Landscaping has deep-rooted experience in commercial grounds maintenance including irrigation, fertilization, and landscape enhancement projects. The person in this role is energetic, self-motivating, and adaptable to connect with different personalities to build relationships that lead to continued opportunities to bid and win contracts within the scope of work that FSLM provides. Teamwork is integral in the success of this role, as the BDR position will be working with up to 10 different FSLM team members daily. As the first contact and impression of FSLM, this role is expected to be professional, courteous, well groomed, and wear proper attire corresponding to the meeting or event.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Lead generation through cold calling, networking events, and long-term relationship building
  • Coordination with Branch Management for estimation assistance and final approval of bid
  • Use of proposal software (BOSS) to create bid proposal, track data for won vs lost, and coordination with Branch Contract Administrator with won contracts to setup in the BOSS system
  • Self-organization of daily/weekly/monthly activity needed to achieve total proposed and sales goal
  • New property onboarding: after bid approval, coordination with Branch, Account, and Production Managers to setup new property walk to review and communicate site/client expectation, enhancement opportunities, or other specific details
  • Lead by example with a focus on FSLM core values, mission, vision, and a positive professional image

Daily Keys for Success

Client Relations, Lead Generation, Sales to Bid Cycle:

  • Reports directly to the CEO and partners with Branch Management account managers to fulfill their daily job duties
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key prospects, clients, industry leaders and stakeholders prioritizing opportunities to pursue in accordance with the company's market focus
  • Demonstrate problem solving abilities and produce creative solutions for operation and sales account issues that might arise
  • Meet and exceed annual revenue targets and report regularly on sales performance while providing monthly and quarterly forecast vs. actual updates to business development manager and branch managers
  • Continuously evaluate and improve sales processes and methodologies to drive efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, finance, and marketing to ensure successful delivery of products and services to clients
  • Stay up to date on industry trends, competitor activities, and market conditions to inform sales strategy and decision-making Conduct market research on prospects by developing and maintaining reliable sources for economic and market information in the Columbus region
  • Utilize community and industry networks and prepare regular internal updates for business planning purposes
  • Assist in developing market analysis to understand competition and identify potential areas of opportunity and/or new business
  • Utilize BOSS, CRM, and other required FSLM software to track all data and information
  • Coordinate with business development manager and develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy that meets the company’s growth objective
  • Coordinate with the Branch Manager to define target markets, client types, and geographic region that matches Five Season’s strategy and strengths
  • Develop contracts and review proposals with the Business Development Manager and Branch Manager to resolve any issues that may arise
  • Partner with Branch Manager to generate field measurement estimates and take-offs
  • Collaborate with clients and branch manager to provide compelling solutions with the appropriate service frequencies and specifications that will meet expectations to sell comprehensive and profitable landscape maintenance and irrigation proposals that meet or exceed sales goals
  • Demonstrate and maintain a high knowledge of landscape trends, features, and techniques
  • Be driven to be recognized by our clients, team members and industry experts as the #1 recommended landscape maintenance and installation company in our region
  • Develop, communicate, and support the business growth strategies and revenue targets as set-forth by Five Seasons Landscape. This will involve analyzing current and future customer relationships, cross-functional collaboration across the team, as well as strategic marketing

Qualifications

  • Degree in marketing/business a plus OR equivalent work experience in business development focused position
  • 5+ years’ business development sales experience (hunting sales, cold calling, face-to-face sales and networking)
  • Self-motivated, organized, team-oriented, energetic, and willingness to learn is a must
  • Experience with estimating/proposal software programs, Microsoft office suite, Outlook email, and Adobe Pro
  • Excellent business writing and communication skills for in-person meetings, over the phone, and email correspondence
  • Ability to host and attend networking and sales meetings after work hours and weekends as needed
