OVERVIEW:
The Application Engineer shall have working knowledge of KSB products and processes, shall utilize this knowledge to complete and manage quotations for pumps, parts and repair jobs. This position requires an individual who is strong in technical knowledge of pump repair market to support quotation process. An employee shall serve as mentor to customer service team and colleagues, train colleagues, and participate in function development objectives. Close cooperation with leadership team is expected. Employee is to be proficient in most activities and designated for a leadership role within the function. This role requires an individual who is well-supported, and detail oriented who can thrive in a fast-paced team environment. The Application Engineer works hand-in-hand with our Internal KSB team (Sales, Engineering, Purchasing, Logistics and Operations), as well as directly with end-users, to accurately manage customer quotes and issue resolution.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provides engineering support for part and pump application issues and system issues
  • Provides technical support and interface for service center repairs
  • Leads Product Field Complaint (PFC) process including driving the resolutions, quality investigations and warranty support
  • Performs proposal generation for sight unseen engineered pump repairs and parts
  • Review RFQ from sales for clear RFQ tickets, assign to CSR to process quoting process
  • Review scope of work for pump repairs and new parts for technical accuracy. Once approved, it would continue pricing process within CS department.
  • Continual process of validating the automated quoting tools. Review completed jobs for work with foundry and machine shop to gather all hours, then giving to CSR to build the quote.
  • Assist in time studies across departments to validate quoting tools and to build a quoting library to build standards to save time in the quoting process.
  • Validating time in quoted and actual job performance results.
  • Facilitate data gathering between different departments from RFQ review from Sales, clarification on missing data with sales for customer needs.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar (required).
  • Work experience of 2 years working with centrifugal pump engineering and application.
  • Be familiar with and able to effectively use: All applicable basic MS Office applications
  • Knowledge of Autodesk (AutoCAD/Inventor) preferred.
  • ANSYS and API 610 knowledge preferred.
  • Responsiveness – Sensitivity for urgency and timeliness; ensures efficiency and thoroughness of communications.
  • Time management – Managing one’s own time and the time required for projects along with the ability to prioritize tasks required to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Effective Communication – talking to others to convey information effectively one on one and with customers, with the ability to convey information so others understand.
  • Deductive Reasoning – The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce sensible/useful answers.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge and working experience working with mechanical equipment or auxiliary equipment.
  • Ability and willingness to function in an office environment as well as hands on in a shop and field environment.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This position occasionally requires work near moving mechanical parts and/or exposure to fumes or airborne particles. Typical noise levels for this job are moderate.
