The Opportunity
We are currently seeking two (2)Learning & Development (L&D) Supervisors to join our L&D team in Voisey’s Bay, Labrador, a fly-in fly-out operation.
These permanent on-site positions will be a working a 2x2 rotation at our Voisey’s Bay Mine Site.
As the L&D Supervisor, you will be reporting to the VNL L&D Superintendent and will be accountable for leading the implementation and maintenance of effective training plans and programs to meet all on-site and off-site L&D/training requirements. The incumbent will be responsible for organizing, directing, and implementing training activities and providing expertise in the area of training systems and process development. Your experience and skills will allow you to provide continuous supervision and guidance to trainers in the areas of safety, environment, job specific requirements, and employee personal development.
Additionally, in this position you will:
- Provide oversight to learning and development programs, career development, and planning process, ensuring the operation meets all learning and development requirements regarding legislated regulations, company policies and standards.
- Identify training needs and ensure those needs are met by working with the L&D team to coordinate and deliver effective programs, as well as implement an annual training calender.
- Continuously review and update L&D programs in collaboration with Base Metals content development team to ensure content is current and follows a consistent format and structure.
- Actively lead training responsibility through line management and employees while monitoring, auditing, and providing expertise and advice.
- Provide leadership and guidance to training team through constructive formal and informal feedback and coordinate vacation schedules for staff personnel within their area of responsibility.
- Source, acquire, and coordinate external trainers to deliver specialized training that is outside the scope of the current teams capacity.
- Maintain strong relationships with external training institutions to ensure delivery of relevant and timely training programs (i.e. apprenticeship training, personal development training, etc.).
- Provide regular reports regarding training curriculum and performance to internal and external stakeholders.
About You
Education:
- A minimum of a community college or post-secondary diploma in a relevant field is required.
- An adult learning or teaching certification is an asset.
Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar supervisory role is required.
Skills:
- Experience with NL Government Acts & Regulations which apply to the operation of a remote mine site or processing plant.
- Knowledge of training systems.
- Strong relationship management, consulting and influencing skills.
- Capable of prioritizing and planning work activities to meet the business requirements.
- Advanced computer skills.
