Intake coordinators work directly with referral sources, welcome, register, and admit patients. They gather information about the patient and create patient records. They make appointments for clinicians and input data into the electronic medical record. They also answer questions related to services and make outside referrals and DME connections when necessary. The also obtain initial authorization for services.

Intake Coordinator Job Requirements
- Associate’s degree in Medical Office Management, Medical Staffing, Health Administration, or related field preferred but not required
- Professional certification for healthcare coordinators is preferred but not required
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Strong customer service acumen
