Brief Job Description
The Sales Representative’s major focus will be to increase sales and brand awareness in the market while learning more about our products, markets, the industry and the DFF sales process. They will be the direct point of contact for our customers and the senior sales team and assist in product and application inquiries, expediting the sales processes and following through with customer requests. The Sales Representative will also handle inside sales responsibilities and support the Customer Service team when not in the field.

Responsibilities
Sales
- Grows outside and inside sales with existing and potential clients and identifies customers and/or markets to sell to, maximizing margins.
- Quotes prices, prepares proposals, and provides information regarding terms of sales and delivery dates, consults with the Sales Manager to devise effective solutions.
- Manages and interprets customer requirements with clients to understand, anticipate and meet their needs.
- Analyzes customers’ orders and makes “add on” product suggestions based on previously ordered products.
- Communicates sales or service opportunities and customer concerns or suggestions.
- Maintains product inventory and age by keeping current with market conditions, changing trends, economic indicators, and competitors while maximizing margins (selling price).
- Maintains records of customer communications and contact information, as required.
- Works with other Customer Service Representatives to ensure correct orders are communicated to the logistics team for order picking and delivery.
- Collaborates with the Sales Representatives on inventory and promotional sales, provides support to the Sales Team in fulfilling orders.
- Cold calls potential customers (butcher shops, non-chain retail stores, delis, restaurants etc.) using script to add new customers to DSD route, within the assigned geographic DSD territory.
Market/Product Knowledge and Intelligence
- Obtains an understanding of the production capabilities and numbers at each plant in order to have a better understanding of products to sell.
- Gathers market intelligence and competitive information.
- Remains up to date with current products and services being offered by competitors in the market.
- Fosters business development by identifying and securing sales opportunities.
- Assists in the research and development of new products, fact based and customer validated volume – margin driven.
- Creates and enhances products that fill a niche in the market.
- Determines product specifications and design activities.
- Consults marketing research materials and sales data to ensure products are viable and competitive.
Customer Ambassador
- Provides value to customers by analyzing their needs and provides products/services to fulfill those needs.
- Maintains regular relationships with accounts.
- Works together with the customers, production team, and QA teams to resolve customer complaints and issues and ensure responses are provided in timely manner.
- Maintains CRM data to strengthen relationships with clients.
- Works with Customer Service Representatives to ensure correct orders are communicated to the Logistics team for order picking and delivery.
- Collaborates with Key Account Managers on inventory and promotional sales and with the QA Team, Sales Team and Logistics Team to resolve customer’s complaint or product issues.

- Adheres to all Company policies and procedures.
- Acts resourcefully and in an innovative way to solve problems and complete tasks.
- Communicates constructively to management and team members on problems, ideas or any other insights to assist in defining new ideas, policies and procedures.
- Other duties as required.
Requirements
- Experience with retail or food products is a requirement.
- Experience with consumer packaged and or fresh / frozen meat products is an asset.
- Minimum of 2 years in a Sales or service-related role.
- Excellent communication skills – written / spoken, superior interpersonal skills.
- Ability to set customer growth goals and achieve them, organized with the ability to adhere to deadlines.
- Excellent negotiation skills, has the ability to build relationships.
- Experience using Microsoft office skills (In particular: Excel, PowerPoint).
- Will be expected to travel, as needed.
