Position Overview:

The Regional Director of Sales reports to the Regional Vice President and is responsible for providing direction and guidance to the sales and commercial excellence activities of US LBM. This role works directly with the Sales and Commercial Excellence team along with the Divisions' leadership to support attainment of key performance metrics. Ensure sales revenue meets or exceeds goals to keep the company profitable. Tests different sales plans and adjusts the sales strategy as needed to increase profits. This position serves as a consultant, coach, and mentor in the spirit of continuous improvement and commercial excellence across the US LBM footprint.

Responsibilities:
  • Develops and drives key sales strategies and initiatives.
  • Sets specific quarterly or annual sales goals and motivates the sales teams to achieve goals.
  • Monitors the market and competitor products and activities and provides detailed sales forecasting.
  • Advises on region trends and competitive price situations.
  • Identifies where improvements can be made and develops sales plans and strategies to achieve sales goals.
  • Collaborates with the marketing department to design print and online promotional materials for the company's products and services.
  • Provides support, guidance, and assessment of talent during the recruiting and hiring of sales professionals, including promotion of national sales development and coaching programs.
  • Leverages data and job shadowing activities to identify gaps in sales staff, partners with sales training team to develop customized sales programs and coaching.
  • Monitor key operational metrics and financial measures by division and develop improvement plans as necessary.
  • Share and leverage best practices across regional divisions.
  • Help drive the US LBM culture of empowerment and continuous improvement across all markets.
  • Oversee the development and execution of a standardized playbook for the Sales and the Commercial segment.
  • Execute special projects as directed by the RVP or SVP of Sales & Commercial Excellence
  • Collaborates with Divisional and Regional leadership on the customer/commercial aspects of strategic plans.
  • Supports pricing to drive margin improvement opportunities across the region along with other critical initiatives such as developing sales plans, launching new products, category growth, and customer opportunities.
  • Supports diversification of customer segmentation mix and product mix based on opportunity by market.
  • Works with Director of National Accounts to develop and execute strategies for National Builders.

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of related experience in lumber and building materials industry or related field required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the organization, products, and/or services required.
  • Prior leadership experience building high-performing, best-in-class teams.
  • Prior experience working for a scaling culture, possessing a high degree of autonomy

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Firm understanding of sales practices and methodologies.
  • Outstanding presentation and communication skills
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written including the ability to communicate business knowledge and technical information clearly
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and other business and recruiting related software systems
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, sales professionals, and customers.
  • Ability to establish productive, professional relationships with key personnel.
  • Strong analytical, planning, and forecasting skills
  • Proven track record of national/enterprise sales or marketing experience
  • Successful management of sales teams and a demonstrated ability to recruit, train, motivate, and retain.
  • Ability to anticipate customer needs and proactively develop plans to meet those needs
  • Understanding of environment and industry-related issues affecting the market
  • Ability to manage multiple, complex priorities within demanding time frames
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment and handle multiple tasks
