Job Description

Sales Manager - Consumer Electronics (50% Travel - US, with occasional travel to Canada, Mexico and Europe).

A typical successful candidate will have 12+ years of experience working internally for one of the end clients in a capital equipment purchasing capacity. Sr. level engineer or NPI owner within a customer’s organization and 2 years of direct sales experience, would also be fine. Intimate knowledge of how customers in the consumer electronics industry make capital equipment purchase decisions. Need to know both the CAPEX and the OPEX processes.

  • Capital Equipment sales experience
  • Consumer Electronics experience
  • Automated Metrology knowledge
  • Capex and Opex
  • New business development experience
  • Previous experience calling on the following companies or similar: Google, Meta, Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, etc.
  • Understanding of the acronym FAANG
  • Extensive travel required (50%: mostly in the US but occasional to Canada, Mexico and Europe).

Here’s a quick breakdown of their relevance to capital equipment:

  • Facebook (Meta): Invests heavily in data centers, servers, networking hardware, and AI infrastructure to support social media, VR, and AI applications.
  • Apple: Requires sophisticated manufacturing and testing equipment for consumer electronics production, along with data center infrastructure.
  • Amazon: Through AWS, Amazon is one of the largest investors in data center capital equipment, including servers, storage solutions, and networking.
  • Netflix: While it relies on AWS and other cloud infrastructure, Netflix also invests in custom content delivery networks (CDNs) and hardware for streaming.
  • Google (Alphabet): Invests heavily in capital equipment for data centers, AI research, autonomous vehicles, and other emerging technologies.
  • Client advocate and tenacity – someone who will be connected with the client to the extent that they know what projects the client has coming, know how we can add value to those projects, and can advocate for the client in the proposal process.
  • Business acumen – know what “value” is and what it isn’t. Sells value. Sees potential to add value.
  • Negotiation skills – understands the process and the value proposition well enough to position the conversation in a way that will allow us to get to closed.

Pay: $100,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year

  • Bachelor's (Preferred)

Experience:

  • Sales management: 10 years (Preferred)
  • consumer electronics: 10 years (Preferred)
  • Capital equipment sales: 10 years (Preferred)

Willingness to travel:

  • 50% (Required)

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Santa Monica, CA 90401
