Valley Fiber is looking to hire an Account Executive as a critical role in the growth of its rural fiber to the premise (FTTX) business.
The Account Executive will join the Business Markets team that includes other Account Executives, Business Sales Customer Support, Sales Directors for the Public Sector and Carrier customer segments, and further support in customer care, marketing, project management, and many other supporting teams.
Our company is investing hundreds of millions of dollars to build high capacity, low latency, and scalable fiber networks across rural Manitoba. Fiber technology is the only true broadband infrastructure, with limitless ability to scale and increase data speed and throughput to satisfy the voracious appetite for data connectivity driven by growth in the IT “cloud”, mobile communications, and growth and power of applications and AI.
We are searching for commercial account executives who thrive in earlier stage, high growth business models. In this stage of Valley Fiber’s development, we are focused on experienced “hunter” sales professionals.
- Understanding the relationship between sales activities and achievement of monthly and annual sales quotas.
- Initiating and attending sales meetings with both prospective and existing clients.
- Determining a client’s business needs and identifying where Valley Fiber’s solutions can address the client’s requirements.
- Working with the sales support team to:
- Prepare proactive proposals or RFP responses,
- Ensure that the proposals satisfy the clients’ needs, and
- Address business and technical questions
The role requires a minimum of (40) hours a week. The successful candidate will manage their time between one of VF’s Winkler, Steinbach, Lockport, or Winnipeg offices, customer locations throughout our expansive, rural footprint.
Initially, as the sales executive builds their customer base, they should anticipate considerably more travel to visit and meet with customers at their business location. Attending customer events may require both travel and work outside the usual parameters.

- 2+ years of experience in B2B sales, preferably in telecommunications or related industries
- Proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets
- Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with customers and internal
- Stakeholders
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Knowledge of the telecommunications industry, including fiber optic networks,
- Wireless networks, and related technologies
- Familiarity with the unique needs and challenges of Manitoba Businesses
- An undergraduate business/commerce degree or equivalent
- Excellent selling skills
- A keen interest in telecom and IT issues
- Presentation skills
- The ability to prepare reports and proposals
- The ability to manage your time and plan your day effectively
