JOB DESCRIPTION
Select Chemistry’s Analytical Laboratory Supervisor will provide supervision and oversight for the analytical laboratory staff which conducts analysis and reporting on various petroleum industry samples including fresh and produced water and crude oil. This position also provides analytical support to the manufacturing and R&D teams.
The essential job functions include, but are not limited to
- Reviews/updates as necessary analytical testing SOP’s and maintains company-wide standards.
- Expertise with analytical equipment common to the industry including but not limited to: ICP-OES, Ion Chromatography, FT-IR, LPR, DSL, UV/Vis spectroscopy, etc.
- This position will be responsible for special projects, specialty testing to meet customer needs.
- Provides recommendations for product application to address mineral scale, paraffin, and/ or corrosion via analytical testing and prepares technical reports detailing results.
- Maintains all analytical results and records.
- Communicates results to internal and external customers.
- Implements and/or maintains calibration and PM program for critical equipment.
- Responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training employees.
- Conducts performance reviews and establishes development plans for laboratory personnel.
- Coordinates staff scheduling to cover all shifts and manages overtime.
- Manages lab costs to meet budget.
- Attend inter-company leadership training and continuous education training classes.

Requirements
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:
- Minimum BS Science or a degree in Chemistry, Engineering, or related field with at least 3-5 years of relevant industry experience.
- Previous supervisory experience preferred in an analytical laboratory setting.
- Must be able to work with all chemicals, petrochemicals, and petroleum products.
- Ability to build and lead and effective team.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Willingness and ability to work under minimal supervision and effectively prioritize and schedule workload to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Takes initiative and quickly and efficiently addresses issues and completes tasks.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work well in team environments.
- Excellent computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office.
- Excellent oral, written and electronic communication and presentation skills are required.
