Job Description
The Government Sales and Business Development Manager is an exciting and challenging position at the cutting edge of emerging vehicle connectivity technology. You will leverage and grow our success in providing nationwide vehicle integration products and services to state transportation agencies, SmartCities, and fleets. You’ll leverage your skills in developing and executing on a prospecting plan and qualifying government fleet leads - ranging from shorter to longer sales cycles, managing each appropriately to hit sales goals. You’ll demonstrate appropriate cadencing on a prospecting plan. You’ll meet with decision-makers of government agencies to help get us approved for their bid list and earn RFPs from those agencies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Sales and Business Development
- Create a steady pipeline flow of bids from agencies, cities and government fleets sufficient to reach short and medium term sales targets
- Respond to bid inquiries on a timely basis
- Ensure timely response to relevant government bid requests
- Create quote responses and solicit input from the internal team
- Exhibit disciplined Hubspot CRM use to manage the sales pipeline process
- Establish effective teaming relationships with potential partners
- Attend trade shows as required
Marketing
- Develop a wide knowledge of the vehicle safety products and upfitting industry
- Develop a strong perspective on the addressable market for Brandmotion
- Influence the strategic direction of the business unit
- Leverage a keen understanding of our unique advantages and capabilities
- Maintain close connections to clients’ business and the latest trends and news
- Influence the development of an effective marketing strategy in cooperation with our marketing team
- Develop innovative ways to market to new prospects
- Continually update the companies marketing mailing list with new contacts
Key Account Management
- Ensure our completed work is on brand and achieves account goals
- Engage clients and work with them to scope and estimate projects
- Build strong trust-based relationships and maintain communication with stakeholders at various levels, both internal and external
- Offer creative or technical direction to internal project teams
- Understand the service delivery process and accurately assess technical needs
- Obsess about the details of budgets, schedules, and client interactions, knowing that these are the bedrock to successful programs
- Ensure a thorough project transition to the project management teams once new leads are qualified.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, or a relevant field
- 3-5+ years of sales and business development experience
- Experience leading complex multi-dimensional bid responses
- Experience selling emerging communications and/or electronics technology
- Experience responding to federal grant opportunities
- Experience selling to government agencies
- Ability to create opportunity flow from multiple external and internal entities
- Strong team orientation and ability to work well with others
- Strong computer skills with knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet experience with Google Suite and HubSpot CRM
- Ability to promptly respond to fast-changing customer demands
- Highly resourceful and skilled in problem-solving and critical thinking
- Strong self-starter with leadership and decision making skills
- Ability to prioritize and complete bid responses by deadlines with quality
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
