POSITION TITLE: Clubhouse Operations/Assistant Pro

DEPARTMENT/SECTION: Sales and Services

POSITION REPORTS DIRECTLY TO: Golf Course Manager/Head Golf

Professional

LOCATION: Groesbeck Golf Course

POSITION SUPERVISES: Pro Shop Staff, Golf Cart Attendant

STATUS: Part-Time, Non-Exempt

COMPENSATION: Hourly

JOB SUMMARY:

The Clubhouse Operations/Assistant Pro is responsible for with the general administration, coordination and supervision of the day-to-day activities of the seasonal, part-time and volunteer golf clubhouse operational staffs, golf merchandise operations and general ongoing maintenance of the facilities and their events to ensure that the services are provided in an efficient, effective, and timely manner.

Under the direction of the Golf Course Manager/Head Golf Professional, the Clubhouse Operations/Assistant Pro is responsible for assisting in the planning, organizing, scheduling, controlling and monitoring of sales operations to ensure revenue generation and improvement of the overall appearance/integrity of the sales and merchandise for the customers of Groesbeck Golf Course.

In addition, the Clubhouse Operations/Assistant Pro shall be responsible for adherence to LEPFA policies and procedures designed to promote efficiency of operation and quality of service.

ESSENTIAL ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Is responsible for developing and implementing day-to-day operational policies and procedures by coordinating, planning, organizing, scheduling, assigning, monitoring, analyzing and correcting work assignments of the Pro Shop Staff, Cart Attendant and Starter-Ranger staff.

2. Responsible for assuring the highest quality customer service by implementing established goals and supervising the Pro Shop Staff, Cart Attendant, and Starter-Ranger staff..

3. Responsible for the the training, and development of the Pro Shop Staff, Cart Attendant and Starter-Ranger staff in accordance with established departmental and organizational guidelines and procedures.

4. Assists in the development, ongoing improvement, and implementation of formalized training and education programs for the Pro Shop Staff, Cart Attendant, Starter-Ranger staff. .

5. Assists in the oversight and monitoring of daily cash receipts and the accurate completion of daily bank deposits in a timely manner while adhering to LEPFA guidelines and procedures.

6. Assists in conducting periodic physical inventory of golf supplies and merchandise at Groesbeck Golf Course. Reviews and reports any inconsistencies in cash or inventory to the LEPFA Finance Department and the Golf Course Manager/Head Golf Professional in a timely fashion.

7. Assists the Golf Course Manager/Head Golf Pro with the operations of the general oversight of maintenance, safety and review of all golf course building structures, systems, HVAC, equipment, electrical, plumbing, telecommunications, carts, and domestic water and sewer.

8. Assists the Golf Course Manager/Head Golf Pro with regular facility inspections to review course conditions, facilities, equipment, personnel, general activity and share findings with the Golf Course Manager/Head Golf Professional and Golf Operations Manager.

9. Responsible for ensuring the safety of customers, staff, contractors and equipment by monitoring weather conditions daily and recommend closing golf course when conditions warrant per LEPFA safety guidelines and policies.

10. Participates in LEPFA employee committees and staff meetings as assigned

11. Responsible for performance evaluations for clubhouse staff..

12. Attendance and/or travel may be required for work-related meetings held off site.

13. Assists with coordination with outside organizations, code officials, vendors, city departments, private firms and clients and operational service contractors, to include course maintenance who frequently service the course.

14. Assists the with tournament sales/oversight to provide the best value to customers while maximizing revenues.

15. Assists in the development and implementation of revenue development strategies and operating efficiency measures, programs and systems to maintain or improve customer satisfaction at Groesbeck Golf Course.

16. Anticipates and appropriately resolves issues promptly to ensure customer satisfaction and a positive experience.

17. Assists with the accurate set-up and maintenance of Chronogolf and Vend point-of-sale terminals and associated data.

18. Provides a safe environment free of harassment for department employees and ensure compliance with all Authority policies, applicable OSHA standards and local, state, and federal laws including the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.

19. Assists the Golf Course Manager/Head Golf Pro in the development of capital improvement projects.

20. Responsible for adhering to LEPFA and Departmental policies and procedures.

21. Use computer terminal to enter and retrieve information and prepare reports of departmental activities.

22. Assist in maintaining golf course filing system and records to ensure that all required documentation, receipts, inventories, event details, licensing, personnel, equipment, and supplies are accurately maintained.

23. Assists in maintaining the overall cleanliness and sanitation of golf items and areas, adhering to health codes and established safety standards in compliance with local, state and federal health standards, codes and guidelines.

24. Assists in overseeing the accurate and timely completion of established opening and closing duties including daily work assignments and periodic cleaning and preventative maintenance schedules.

25. Participates in and provides support for LEPFA events as assigned.

26. Position requires irregular schedules including evenings, and weekends and holidays. The performance of work assignments may not be directly related to job specifications. Adjustments of shifts, overtime, breaks, etc. may be required upon short notice

27. Performs all other duties as assigned.

MARGINAL ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Research and stay abreast of industry trends, competitor courses and services.

2. Familiar with the Greater Lansing Region for improved service.

3. Assist in researching new innovations, improvements in procedures, and developments within the industry to improve efficiency, levels of service, performance, and reduction in costs.

4. Participate in industry related associations and trade shows as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

1. Education & Experience:

  • High school graduate or equivalent GED
  • Two (2) or more years of full-time, supervisory experience in a Golf pro shop preferred.
