Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and results-driven Business Development Representative to join our team, focusing on the Marine and Defense sectors. In this role, you will drive growth by identifying new business opportunities and nurturing strong relationships with both current and potential customers. You will leverage market data and insights to develop and implement sales strategies that maximize revenue while ensuring customer satisfaction. Additionally, you will revitalize previous connections and expand the customer base by understanding customer needs and delivering tailored solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Generation: Identify and pursue new business opportunities using both organic and inorganic methods. Leverage internal data sources like service reports and historical data, as well as external resources including social media, networking, cold calling, and market research.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Develop and strengthen relationships with existing customers, ensuring their needs are met with tailored solutions. Re-engage past customers to reignite business opportunities.
  • Sales Strategy and Data Analysis: Analyze sales performance, customer feedback, and market trends to make informed decisions and optimize sales strategies. Recommend improvements to boost customer engagement and revenue growth.
  • Quotation Process: Manage the transition of inquiries to quotations, ensuring an efficient and seamless process for customers.
  • Customer Information Management: Maintain accurate, up-to-date profiles for all customers to better understand their preferences and needs, enabling a 360-degree approach to relationship management.
  • Customer Satisfaction & NPS Improvement: Implement strategies to improve the Net Promoter Score (NPS) by delivering exceptional service and responding to customer feedback.
  • Technical Support Coordination: Collaborate with internal teams to provide accurate technical support for customer requests, working with Parts and Service Sales Representatives to ensure comprehensive solutions.

This role demands a proactive approach to business development, excellent communication skills, and the ability to effectively analyze data and drive customer engagement. You will be essential in helping the Parts & Service division achieve its growth objectives.

Salary Range:
$100,000 - $125,000 annually, plus commission

Travel Requirements:
Up to 50%

Location:
Hybrid role with flexibility to live near one of our key locations: New Orleans, LA (Gulf Coast), Seattle, WA (Puget Sound), or Fort Lauderdale, FL (Southeast).

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Technical Product Knowledge: A solid understanding of the technical aspects of products and services, including parts, systems, and applications.
  • Forward Thinking: Ability to predict market trends and customer needs while adjusting strategies accordingly.
  • Self-Starter: Demonstrated ability to independently initiate business development efforts and generate new leads.
  • Customer Selling Skills: Ability to understand customer pain points, engage effectively, and present tailored solutions.
  • Follow-Up Expertise: Diligent in following up on leads, quotes, and customer inquiries to maintain strong relationships.
  • Market Knowledge: Familiarity with industry dynamics, competitor analysis, and market positioning.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze sales and market data to derive actionable insights.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Negotiation Skills: Experience negotiating terms, pricing, and contracts with customers to ensure mutually beneficial outcomes.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in the marine industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sales, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a sales or business development role.
