Position Overview:

The role of the Application Engineer is to develop competitive and specific products for existing market segments or to conquer, in direct liaison with the customer or final prospect, by providing technical and economic support to customers and the sales department. It acts as an interface between engineering, the application and development laboratory, sales, and customers. The Application Engineer manages and carries out the tests of applied products and organizes and conducts technical training on products and applications.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Follow the technical requests of customers and lead the development of applied products.
  • Represent the company at technical events and trade fairs.
  • Provide the necessary information to support the product development roadmap.
  • Seek information on trade movements, market/competitors regarding technical issues.
  • Coordinate the exchange of technical experiences between the client and Tecumseh.
  • Coordinate the compressor/CPU sampling process (opening of the CS, for application testing in Tecumseh’s laboratory).
  • Provide technical support to customers and users.
  • Coordinate the development of applications for customers (at Tecumseh or in customer laboratories).
  • Develop cross-references of products compared to competitors.
  • Coordinate the implementation of the product change in the market.
  • Ensure the follow-up of technical issues with internal sectors (Product Eng., Quality, Research & Development, Production, Laboratories, etc.)
  • Define the most appropriate compressor application for each customer.
  • Prepare the technical equipment for the application of the compressor.
  • Conduct technical visits, including coordination/execution of seminars.
  • Monitor the approval of compressors at customers.
  • Properly use the systems and resources made available by the company to carry out their work in accordance with the defined rules and procedures.
  • Have knowledge and comply with the standards, procedures or work instructions, defined by the quality, environment, safety and occupational health systems, according to their field of activity, established by the company or the legislation in force.
  • Contributes to the technological watch.
  • Ensures the documentary follow-up of the studies for which they are responsible.
  • Realizes the capitalization of knowledge and achievements.
  • Can bring expertise and/or participation in working groups within the Tecumseh Group as part of global projects.
  • Contributes to the company’s continuous improvement process, particularly when dealing with customer complaints.
  • Animate and coordinate the product development projects for which responsible.
  • Control and guarantee the progress of studies and alert in case of deviation from deadlines and objectives.
  • Provide a technical response to customers.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or HVAC/thermal engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Technical knowledge in industrial refrigeration.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Master the design and calculation aspects of products and know the associated processes.
  • Master the standards and regulations related to its sector of activity.
  • Know the principles of regulation, communication, and product technology.
  • Fluent professional English.
  • Be rigorous and organized, very good interpersonal skills, customer-oriented.
  • Demonstrate communication skills, cooperation, teamwork, facilitation.
  • Ability to work in project mode.
  • Be creative.

Additional Information

Travel: 10-25%.

Physical Demands: Lifting a minimum of 25lbs, occasionally. Position is a desk position. Long periods of computer and/or phone is required.
