Job Summary:

As a Portfolio Manager, you will play a crucial role in supporting QED’s product development and growth strategy. This role is responsible for maintaining a competitive portfolio of products by closely aligning with market needs and driving innovation. You will support the New Business Development Manager with industry research and analysis that improves product lines, enhances our portfolio, and maintains our competitive edge. Additionally, you will manage and execute projects, ensuring alignment with our corporate goals and objectives. This position requires a highly motivated and experienced individual who can translate the voice of the customer into actionable product features, explore new product lines, and identify merger and acquisition (M&A) opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Voice of Customer (VoC)
    • Engage with customers to gather insights and understand their needs and pain points.
    • Translate customer feedback into product features and enhancements.
    • Maintain ongoing communication with key customers to ensure continuous alignment with market demands.
  • Product Development and Strategy
    • Identify opportunities for new product lines and extensions of existing product lines.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define product specifications and ensure successful product launches.
    • Develop and maintain a product roadmap that aligns with the company's strategic goals.
    • Monitor the performance of new products and make adjustments as necessary to optimize success.
  • Competitor Analysis
    • Conduct thorough analysis of competitors' products, strategies, and market positions.
    • Identify gaps and opportunities in the market to inform product development and strategic decisions.
    • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements to anticipate market shifts.
  • Portfolio Management
    • Regularly review and assess the performance of the product portfolio to ensure alignment with business objectives.
    • Manage the lifecycle of products, from introduction to phase-out, ensuring optimal profitability and market relevance.
    • Develop strategies to optimize the product mix and maximize overall portfolio value.
  • Market Research and Trend Analysis
    • Analyze market data and trends to inform product development and business strategy.
    • Utilize data-driven insights to make informed decisions regarding product portfolio management.
    • Evaluate the potential impact of market changes on the company's product portfolio.
    • Develop strategies to capitalize on new market opportunities and mitigate potential risks.
    • Build and present reports and dashboards to communicate findings and recommendations to senior management.
  • Project Coordination
    • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.
    • Develop and maintain project timelines and schedules using Microsoft Project, ensuring all stakeholders are informed and engaged.
    • Analyze data using PowerBI and other analytics tools to drive decision-making and measure project success.
    • Prepare and present regular reports to the New Business Development Manager and senior management on project status, insights, and recommendations.
    • Manage risks and issues proactively, ensuring they are identified, addressed, and escalated as necessary.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field; MBA preferred.
  • Proven experience in product management, portfolio management, or a related role.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management within a manufacturing environment. Strong candidates will have experience in the optics/photonics industry.
  • PMP preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft suite of products, including Microsoft Project, PowerBI, and other relevant project management and data analytics tools.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and market trends.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with customers and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to identifying opportunities and solving problems.
  • Proven track record of managing and delivering strategic projects successfully.
  • Experience with S&E and M&A activities is a plus.
