Job Description

The Sr. Manager, Patient Billing Operations will help the company scale a best-in-class billing process for the millions of patients helped each year by the company's tests across Oncology, Women's Health and Organ Health. This role reports to the Director, Patient Experience for Patient Billing and requires experience with vendor and people management and comfort with analysis and use of data to inform decisions.


Responsibilities:

  • Oversees a team of Patient Billing Operations Analysts responsible for the operations of Natera's patient billing, including daily review and approval of patient billing files.

  • Works with third party vendors to ensure that patient statements and billing related communications are generated in a timely manner.

  • Establishes ongoing working and collaborative relationships with other departments, outside vendors and call centers that directly impact the overall patient experience.

  • Measures outcomes of patient statement and collections efforts and makes adjustments to optimize payments and operational efficiencies.

  • Collaborates with other revenue operations teams to ensure seamless processes across teams

  • Helps manage and investigate patient billing related escalations and issues with a solution oriented approach.

  • Helps identify process changes and opportunities for continuous improvements

  • Responsible for meeting SLAs and metrics related to patient billing.

  • Presents updates (including metrics) to senior leadership and cross-functional partners to demonstrate progress towards goals.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree (MS, MBA, PhD) preferred.

  • Prior experience in healthcare, preferably in biotech or diagnostics, with physicians, patients and payers as key stakeholders and/or customers is highly valued.

  • Experience in healthcare revenue cycle management is preferred.

  • Experience in consulting, strategy, digital health, or customer success/operations is highly valued.

  • Minimum of 7 years of professional experience with a track record of career progression.

  • Previous experience with management of a team is preferred.

  • Track record of leading complex projects to solve big problems with cross-functional teams.

  • Proximity to Bay Area, CA or Austin, TX valued but not required.

Physical Demands and Working Environment:

  • Duties performed in a remote working environment with occasional trips to Natera's labs and offices in San Carlos, CA and Austin, TX.

  • Occasional travel within the US.
