Job Summary:
The Freight/Logistics Coordinator is responsible for all inbound and outbound logistics operations for a growing consumer products company. The coordinator will also be responsible for vendor selection and negotiation, carrier KPI reporting and freight financial reporting.
Duties/ Responsibilities:
- Identify and make recommendation of carriers to ensure efficient, timely and most cost-effective movement of goods, material, and various services.
- Responsible for monitoring and completing the required paperwork for inbound and outbound containers.
- Coordinating with 3PLs and getting carrier rate/quote data.
- Determine most efficient and economical routing and mode of transportation.
- Correspondence with freight carriers to ensure quality of service as well as pricing.
- Analyze transportation and distribution methods and procedures to develop the most cost effective, reliable, and efficient means of transportation.
- Compile schedules of existing rates and routes for analysis of possible savings in transportation cost.
- Evaluate freight classifications, tariff rates and outbound and inbound load requirements to ensure that delivery schedules are being met in the most economical means.
- Audit freight charges, approve for payment, process and file claims for overcharges or damaged goods.
- Schedule and coordinate domestic freight deliveries and overseas containers.
- Provide and assist tracking and tracing information for customer service when necessary.
- Preparation for special order requirements.
- Analyze package and pallet configuration in Distribution and Manufacturing to maximize shipping cost effectiveness.
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient with Microsoft Suite (Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Familiar with or possess technical aptitude related to logistics management.
- High level of proficiency in written communications.
- Ability to interact positively, professionally, and with a sense of urgency with customers, employees, and vendors.
- Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven record of process improvement and execution.
Credentials/ Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or Operations
- Minimum 3 years of experience in in transportation of small package, LTL, consolidation, and FTL shipping methods.
- Experience with Transportation Management Systems.
