Job Description

ContainerWest builds custom steel enclosures and portable buildings for industry --- things like construction offices, generator houses, workshops and fire training structures. We are looking for someone to field sales inquiries, write quotes, visit customer sites, and attend trade shows and industry functions. The keys to success in this role are: speak industrial, customer service focus, communicate internally, ask questions and stay organized. We offer amazing variety and challenge with a solid team.

This is a fun, straightforward role with a high degree of independence and responsibility. While our Design team is great at looking after the product details and getting things built, we need a customer champion to handle inquiries and keep communication going once we have the order. This is mostly a stay at home job, but to deliver top notch service there will be customer visits and involvement in field installs or service work. Pitching in to help without being asked is a core value, and we are very hands on.

With our established customer base this is not a hard sell business. We do expect that you will be able to:

  • Establish and honor deadlines
  • Write simple proposals and quotes
  • Be a peer to our industrial customers. Speak their language. Understand how we make these industrial steel buildings.
  • Ask lots of questions and communicate well.

A rough breakdown of time might be:

  • Respond to sales calls and web inquiries (with estimates & quotes) 50%
  • Follow up on sales leads 20%
  • Project coordination (work with Design & Production) 10%
  • Visit customers, trade shows etc. 10%
  • Professional Development, technical learning 10%

This role offers excellent variety and challenge --- working with customers, engineers and tradespeople takes both interpersonal and technical skill, we’ll share our estimating and sales experience, and you’ll also learn a lot about steel buildings (construction materials, steel shapes, electrical components, trucking, craning, welding, manufacturing, and various codes and standards).

We would prefer post secondary education, either a university degree or diploma.

The sales part is relatively easy because we offer good value and work hard to solve the customer’s problem. And we have really great industrial customers! These are industrial products and most interaction is focused on design, features and benefits. You must be comfortable around people and confident enough to ask for the order or defend a superior design.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
