SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Area Sales Representative at General Express is a customer facing sales role. This individual will have a portfolio of customers and be responsible for generating organic growth for the company with both new and existing customers.
General Express is an established Intermodal motor carrier out of Illinois seeking an enthusiastic sales rep for the Illinois location. This self-motivated individual will join our team reporting directly to the VP of Sales and will be responsible for generating sales through strategic partnerships. This role will have a focus on maintaining current accounts, generating new leads and business with a primary focus international and or domestic transportation sales.
The ideal candidate will have multiple years of transportation sales in at least one of the following fields- rail intermodal sales, steam ship line sales, intermodal truck sales- allowing them to hit the ground running with minimal supervision.
Salary: Base Salary plus Commission
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Manage all components of existing relationships with the assigned portfolio
- Generate and close leads that will result in organic growth for the company
- Act as the liaison between the customer and all other ARL/General Express departments
- Establish and manage SLA’s customers: Establish a process for measurement, hold all stakeholders accountable and communicate results with the customer
- Monitor customer fulfillment and all related communications around it
- Monitor and communicate on time performance and service excellence
- Support all pricing functions
- Facilitate and lead meetings with customers and internal stake holders as applicable
- Participate in customer and industry events
- Perform other duties as assigned, accountabilities not limited to the above
Required Skills:
- 1+ Years sales experience in intermodal transportation
- 1 year experience in a customer facing sales role
- Bachelor’s degree
- Ability and Willingness to travel
- Strong Negotiation Skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong Multi-tasking skills
- Strong organizational, analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Valid driver’s license
