Are you a driven sales professional with a proven track record of selling to large accounts in government, businesses, and educational institutions? Do you have the persistence to close long-term sales and the ambition to eventually lead an entire sales department? If so, Hill Times Publishing Inc. invites you to join our team as a Senior Subscription Sales Executive.

About Us:

Hill Times Publishing is a leading media organization specializing in political and public affairs news for professionals working in and around Canada's federal government. Our range of publications, including The Hill Times and its sister publications, provides valuable insight and content to government departments, corporations and educational institutions.

What You’ll Do:

In this role, you will focus on new client subscription sales for all our products, with a particular focus on expanding our reach to large accounts, including government departments, businesses, and educational institutions.

Your main responsibilities include:

  • Prospecting and Client Acquisition: Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the government, business, and educational sectors.
  • Long-Term Sales Strategy: Develop and execute strategies for large, complex sales that may take time to come to fruition. This requires excellent relationship-building skills and persistence.
  • Account Growth: Expand existing client accounts by increasing the number of readers or product offerings they subscribe to, with the goal of raising their overall subscription value.
  • Sales Management: Collaborate with internal teams and participate in strategy sessions to refine sales processes and improve performance.
  • Eventual Leadership Role: We are looking for someone with leadership potential

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain relationships with decision-makers in government, business, and educational institutions.
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of our publications and services to effectively communicate value to potential clients.
  • Work autonomously to manage your sales pipeline, from lead generation to close, for deals that can take several months to complete.
  • Consistently meet or exceed a monthly sales budget (new clients or expansions of existing subscriptions).
  • Provide regular sales reports and updates to your manager.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience: 5+ years of sales experience, with a strong background in selling to large government departments, businesses, and educational institutions. Experience with long-term sales cycles is essential.
  • Self-Motivated: You are proactive, able to work independently, and can manage your own sales activities and goals without day-to-day oversight.
  • Results-Oriented: You are driven by targets and are motivated by the opportunity to earn a competitive salary and uncapped commissions.
  • Strategic Mindset: You excel at long-term relationship building, understand the intricacies of large accounts, and are comfortable managing complex sales processes.
  • Leadership Potential: You have a desire to eventually manage the entire sales department, taking on a leadership role within the company.
  • Community knowledge: You are familiar with the types of companies that operate in our niche, political news outlets and the Ottawa bubble.

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of a dynamic company with a strong reputation in the political and public affairs sector.
  • Potential for some remote work with the flexibility
  • Enjoy competitive compensation with a clear pathway to greater responsibility and leadership within the organization.
  • Sell a suite of respected and established publications that are widely read by leaders in government and business.
