Inside Sales/Shipper Receiver

Sunderland, Ontario

Full-time, hourly

Sunderland Co-operative has an opportunity in our Retail Division. We are seeking for a full-time Inside Sales/Warehouse Associate. This unique opportunity offers mobility within Sunderland Co-op and a competitive compensation package, including attractive base wage, pension plan, bonus eligibility, and company-paid health benefits.

As an Insides Sales Representative, you are responsible for providing an exceptional shopping experience for every customer instore or over the phone. You will assist the Retail Division Manager and Retail Store Lead Hand with the daily operations and objectives of the Sunderland Co-operative Inc., Retail Division.

Essential Job Functions:

  • This position requires a blend of strong communication skills and dedication.
  • The successful candidate will need to possess a solid foundation in farm supply product knowledge and/or hands on farming experience to assist and support our customers in the farming community.
  • You must be willing to continue to update your product knowledge annually to keep current with the ever-changing agricultural industry and to embrace new products.
  • Maintain a clean and organized sales floor.
  • Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently.

As a Warehouse Associate, you will be responsible for sorting, organizing, and keeping track of inventory of both incoming and outgoing products. You may also be responsible for disposing of a

variety of leftover packing materials or hazardous waste in a safe and appropriate manner. The warehouse associate may also need to operate vehicles like tractors, trailers, forklifts, or other machinery designed to aid in the transport and loading of heavy materials.

You will:

  • Maintain a clean and safe warehouse operation.
  • Create and maintain a layout to optimize the flow of product in and out.
  • Plan, organize and oversee warehouse operational logistics, ensuring the highest level of accuracy and documentation.
  • Establish and maintain correct storage and handling protocols with staff to mitigate product damages/losses.
  • Establish work schedules and co-ordinate, supervise and direct warehouse staff to execute daily requirements.
  • Identify, communicate, and arrange for maintenance and repair work.
  • Prepare and submit weekly reports to manager(s).
  • Work with patrons in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Perform warehouse duties including driving loaders, forklifts, and trucks.
  • Lift & load medium to heavy packages (up to 50 lbs).
  • Pick up and deliver product to customers as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Work additional hours to meet peak-period business demands.

Training provided:

  • Seed, Fertilizer, and Chemical product line orientation
  • Forklift, Loader, and Deliver Truck operation.
  • Health, Safety, Environmental
  • Propane Fill Certification

Health and Safety:

  • Operate only equipment and machinery for which training has been received.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions immediately to the Supervisor.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as approved.
  • Comply with all Company Health and Safety Policies
  • Demonstrate a high degree of safety consciousness.

Basic Qualifications: (required)

  • High school diploma (minimum)
  • Ability to lift/carry medium to heavy packages (up to 50 lbs)
  • Minimum G License
  • Minimum 2 years experience working in a warehousing/logistics operation.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, employing effective decision-making (judgment) in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
  • Possess good communication and interpersonal skills to be able to communicate effectively with managers, staff, customers, and dispatchers.
  • Ability and willingness to work additional hours to meet business demands.
  • Ability and willingness to work in dusty, warm, cold environment.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications: (desired)

  • Forklift certification and experience.
  • Basic understanding of agricultural/agronomy (seed, fertilizer, chemicals) products
  • DZ License
  • Farming background
