SUMMARY:
Purpose of Position
  • Develop strategies and tactics to increase workplace and corporate giving in Corporate Engagement portfolio. This includes researching, planning, organizing, and soliciting corporate gifts, and other partnerships.
  • Focus on small to medium-sized prospects with emphasis on research, engagement proposals, and corporate letter campaign.
  • Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with company decision-makers and ambassadors.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS and EXPECTED PERFORMANCE STANDARDS/OUTCOMES include the following. Other duties may be assigned but are not limited to:

MANAGE CORPORATE ENGAGEMENT PORTFOLIO
  • Develop timelines, key strategies and action plans for portfolio of accounts.
  • Set campaign goals to increase campaign revenue and integrate plans necessary to achieve them.
  • Prepare notes for and attend meetings with United Way leadership and/or Campaign Co-Chairs with executive level staff at companies in portfolio.
  • Respond to company contacts in a timely manner. Provide excellent experience for company contacts, donors and all other stakeholders during campaign and throughout the year.
  • Manage collection of account information and input data to ensure accuracy of Customer Relationship Management (CRM). Always keep CRM up to date.
  • Research and develop plans for leadership and major gifts prospects within portfolio of accounts.
  • Cultivate relationships with company decision-makers and other individuals having an influence on company corporate gifts, sponsorships, volunteerism, and employee giving.
  • Set informed projections throughout campaign to ensure portfolio of accounts is on track.
  • Assist and participate in training, meetings and recognition events for internal and external stakeholders. This could include temporary staff, workplace giving ambassadors, volunteers and cabinet members.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations about United Way. Presentations will vary in topic, length and audience size.
  • Support Volunteer Engagement team with volunteer event planning, preparation, and execution and cultivation plans for future giving.
  • Prepare documentation and promote sponsorship opportunities for accounts to partner with United Way. Prepare and share annual sponsorship recaps with accounts.
  • Gather data and observations at end of campaign period to determine future initiatives, identify challenges and solutions, and share best practices.
  • Remain current with knowledge of internal processes and encourage process improvement when possible.
  • Perform other tasks and duties specific to assigned portfolio of accounts.

MANAGE CORPORATE LETTER CAMPAIGN
  • Work with Resource Development Coordinator and other Account Managers to executive annual corporate letter campaign.
  • Oversee assignment process, ensuring assignments are made, goals are entered and contact information is up to date.
  • Identify prospects to be included in letter campaign across all divisions.
  • Oversee printing and mailing of letters to ensure accuracy and that they are sent out in a timely manner.
  • Identify organizations that are no longer in business or in our area and remove from prospect lists and solicitations.
  • Update contact information as letters are returned to United Way, and determine when a new letter should be sent.

DEVELOP PROSPECTS AND SECURE NEW GIFTS
  • Prepare and maintain prospect lists.
  • Analyze data, campaign results and trends as a basis for developing strategies for growth.
  • Increase revenue from small to medium businesses throughout portfolio.
  • Research and develop plans for engaging prospect accounts based on historical information in CRM and publicly available information.
  • Ensure new companies are thoroughly researched, added to CRM and solicited. This may include outreach to other local United Ways to learn about giving history in other communities.
  • Research new business and community leaders in town. Work alongside other Resource Development staff to develop cultivation plans.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities or direct reports.

QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Undergraduate degree related to marketing, sales, business or planning from four-year college or university and 2-5 years fundraising or related experience, or successful completion of at least one season as a Campaign Coordinator.
  • Understanding of marketing, sales or fundraising and customer service roles and general supervisory experience.
  • Understanding of non-profits, human services and philanthropy.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Ability to apply word processing and database management software concepts to practical situations. Proficient with computer applications such as Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Power Point.
  • Good understanding of group dynamics and good group facilitation skills.
  • Experience in working with diverse populations.
  • Ability to prioritize and balance competing demands.
  • Ability to work in a complex environment using technical and interpersonal skills.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
