Pumps & Process Equipment is seeking a Technical Sales Engineer to join their office in Elgin, IL. This exciting opportunity is responsible for technical support, customer service sales, and technical documentation to help the company grow.
Summary:
The Technical Sales Engineer consists of three main areas of activity: existing customer technical sales support, developing new customers, and general problem solving.
Responsibilities:
- Making recommendations to customers for parts required to correct existing or anticipated equipment problems
- Extensive technical aptitude, familiarity with engineering principles and design guidelines, and the ability to understand pumps, heat exchangers, and fluid processing systems.
- Assist with quoting new equipment, parts identification, and preparation of spare parts lists
- Review field service reports and pump warranty issues.
- Establish and maintain periodic contact with suppliers to obtain technical quotations and develop technical specifications
- Troubleshooting customer installations
- Specifying and obtaining quotations from suppliers
- complex order Receipt, clarification, and entry
- Review and provide recommendations for inventory levels
- Review field service reports identifying necessary documentation updates
- Establish and maintain periodic contact and dialogue with customers for their requirements and needs
- Interact with customers on a technical basis, coordinated with other sales staff, providing information concerning pumps, heat exchangers, and other associated equipment
- Ability to organize and communicate
- Ability to identify and sell equipment to new customers
Technical Skills/Knowledge:
- The ability to read and interpret documents such as engineering reports, drawings, office procedures, and instruction manuals is required
- The ability to write clear, concise routine technical correspondence as well as comprehensive documents
- Knowledge of word processing (Word) and spreadsheets (Excel)
- Excellent time management skills
Required Experience & Education:
- Mechanical, industrial, chemical, electrical or equivalent engineering degree or experience preferred
- Experience 3 Years in Engineering, Technical Sales, or Customer Service
- Basic understanding of pumps and heat exchangers
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
