Job Description

Southern Irrigation is actively looking for a Full-Time Inside Sales - Pump and Water Treatment Expert for our Chilliwack location. The successful candidate should excel in customer service, have good communication skills, and a positive attitude. We welcome qualified international applicants that can effectively communicate (written and oral) in English, however this is not a remote work position.


Job Title
: Inside Sales – Pumps and Water Treatment


Rate of pay:
$120-130k per year plus benefits, depending on technical knowledge and experience


Job purpose
: This position’s primary responsibility is to increase sales and profitability by building and maintaining strong relationships with customers primarily through phone and email, with a special focus on pumps (end centrifugal, submersible), pump controls, and water treatment.

  • Technical knowledge – training (product knowledge and application) goals are set and met.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deliver personalized attention to each customer, providing the best in quality service and value.
  • Take ownership of key accounts with face-to-face interactions, showing interest in their projects, etc
  • Answer customer inquiries via phone and email and process sales orders.
  • Work effectively within customer relationship management (CRM) software (creating leads, following up on leads, turning leads into orders, following up on purchases)
  • Monitor quote success rates and watch for trends; reporting details on reasons for unsuccessful quotes in CRM software for sales lead review.
  • Attend year-round training sessions and product knowledge seminars, pursue industry certifications when training and testing is available
  • Work with team mates to learn, mentor, and assist with workload

Skills

  • Low voltage electrical (24VAC and 24VDC) knowledge
  • High voltage electrical (motor voltage, phases, amperage, etc.)
  • Familiar with:
    • Variable frequency drives – specification/calibration/troubleshooting
    • Pumps – installation/priming/troubleshooting
    • Plumbing – cutting/gluing/assembling manifolds
    • Controls (become familiar with all types of pump controllers
    • Principles of Irrigation – basic understanding of irrigation systems or willing to train on irrigation systems

  • Pump and water treatment technical knowledge
  • Pump and water treatment product knowledge
  • Working understanding of costs, pricing, margin, mark-up, and currencies
  • An empathetic communicator, able to see things from the other person’s point of view
  • Excellent time-management, planning, and organization skills
  • Understands the drivers of return on investment for each client
