Our Marketing and Loyalty team is the strategic force behind United’s industry-leading brand and experience, supporting revenue growth by turning customers into lifelong United flyers. Our marketing communications, market research and brand teams drive travelers’ familiarity and engagement with the United brand. Our product, design and service teams bring the signature United brand to life in our clubs and onboard our aircraft, ensuring a seamless, premier experience. And when customers choose United again and again, that’s because the loyalty team has been hard at work crafting an award-winning program. Our loyalty team manages United MileagePlus®, building travel and lifestyle partnerships that customers can engage with every day, and works with our Star Alliance partners to ensure United can take you anywhere you want to go.

Key Responsibilities:

The Principal - Travel Partnerships will manage new and existing loyalty partnerships and strategic growth initiatives within the MileagePlus organization. This role will also include but not be limited to business development, marketing campaign development and execution, offers and promotion development, financial management, general data analysis, and reporting to inform decision-making and communicate performance. This position will also support initiatives and results that require coordination across the partnerships team. Cross-functional collaboration with Marketing, Media, Finance, Operations, Analytics, and Legal is key to delivering outcomes.

Partner management

  • Understand MileagePlus and partner goals to drive value for both
  • Closely collaborate with partners to deliver compelling offers and benefits for our members
  • Manage ongoing communication with partners including customer service issues
  • Understand and ensure partner contractual obligations are met

Marketing

  • Collaborate with Marketing Managers and others to deliver annual marketing and promotions plans for partners
  • Develop and implement multi-channel campaigns, measure performance

Growth planning

  • Leverage data, historical performance, and new marketing opportunities to establish ongoing growth initiatives for Partners that drive increased revenue

Financial discipline

  • Forecast annual revenue, track and report monthly revenue, monthly close, and ensure accurate reconciliation of miles, revenue, and invoices

Project Management

  • Co-ordinate and deliver on new initiatives and partner team requests, that most often require cross-team or cross-functional collaboration

Coaching & Mentorship

  • Act as a mentor and field questions from junior members of the team and represent the team in broader business discussions

Qualifications

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Marketing, or Sales
  • 5+ years experiences of related work experience
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external partners
  • Understand marketing channels
  • Ability to effectively give presentations and utilize Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Knowledge of travel loyalty programs
  • Embrace a culture of client service and continuous sales effectiveness improvement as well as have solid understanding of MileagePlus value propositions, sales process, account management and planning, and direct marketing standard processes
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
