Overview of Position:

Looking for an exciting and fun career in sales? Want to attend local events & fundraisers? Service Plus Inns & Suites and Encore Suites Grande Prairie is looking for a Director of Sales.

Responsible for Sales & Marketing activities relating to generating revenue from all key market segments; corporate business travel and meetings. The Director of Sales is ultimately responsible for implementing the sales and marketing strategies as outlined in the business plan for both Service Plus Inns & Suites and Encore Suites Grande Prairie.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Negotiate RFP’s for key corporate accounts and develop a strategic account management plan to achieve targeted business travel revenue and develop a plan to capture new corporate accounts for both hotels.
  • Qualify, assess, and negotiate rate programs for key Travel Consortia accounts in conjunction with General Manager and other Sales staff with Consortia Travel Accounts.
  • Analyze GDS/OTA reports to develop tactics to improve market share from competitive set.
  • Fulfill weekly activity quota for personal sales calls and entertain prospects/accounts.
  • Work closely with management in key feeder markets to co-ordinate business opportunities for the hotel and cross sell other Service Plus Inns & Suites properties when opportunities exist.
  • Responsible for preparing customer correspondence, contracts & proposals, presentations and promotional materials in a professional manner.
  • Lead customer sales presentations, client events, site inspections and familiarization tours.
  • Knowledgeable on industry & consumer trends, competitive hotels and their plans, economy, business news and city-wide events; share knowledge gained with other members of the team.
  • Prepare and provide a weekly Sales Report through the ongoing utilization of FreshSales and transmit same to the distribution list provided.
  • Ensure that customers are receiving the highest quality of attention to their requests by monitoring, guiding and following up on all sales inquiries in a prompt and thorough manner.
  • Professionally represent the hotel in the local business community and at trade/industry events.
  • Conversant with current affairs as it pertains to business and new opportunities in key feeder markets.
  • Plan sales trips to feeder markets and participate in related trade shows as appropriate; prepare a clear and concise plan of action including daily appointment schedule and entertainment; followed by a detailed report at conclusion of sales trip.
  • Respond to all sales leads, be it direct inquiry or referral, within 24 hours with no exception.
  • Monitor hotel’s comp set and implement tactics to target specific accounts to capture new business for the hotel (steal the business).
  • Prepare quarterly Sales Objectives to accomplish short- and long-term goals of the hotel, including balancing market mix.
  • Provide input in the Business Plan as it pertains to market trends, competitive hotel set and account production.
  • Be the eyes & ears of the customer as it relates to service delivery and hotel product offering.
  • Provide suggestions and implement advertising and promotional activities in conjunction with Service Plus Inns & Suites directives.
  • Participate in monthly sales meetings & local Destination Marketing Fund board meetings.
  • Submit a monthly expense report with receipts for general expenses incurred on behalf of the company.
  • Help set a positive spirit in the working environment within the hotel.
  • Be self-motivated and employ an aggressive sales approach.
  • This job includes all other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Job Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years experience in senior sales role.
  • Exceptional proven selling skills.
  • Well-organized, detail oriented with excellent follow-up.
  • Exceptional relationship building skills.
  • Exceptional negotiation and selling skills.
  • Ability to work independently (time-management and organization skills).
  • Exceptional, dynamic and memorable public speaking skills.
  • Strong computer skills are a must to include CRM, Outlook, Excel and Word.
  • Results oriented with an emphasis on both individual and team accountability.
  • Positive go-getter with a drive to succeed and ensure all guests have a memorable experience.

Salary will be based on experience. We offer a generous Health Spending plan, Car allowance and mobile phone plans.

This position generally works Monday to Friday but the ability to travel and work on occasional evenings & weekends at local events is essential.
