Job Summary

The Category Business Manager position on the Supplies, Equipment & Services (SES) team is an exciting opportunity to accelerate your career in Foodbuy. In this role you will work alongside Account Managers, Supplier Base and the category procurement team aligning customer needs with commercial opportunities in order to maximize the value of Foodbuy programs for its Members.

There is plenty of new opportunity that we want you to be able to quickly uncover within a supportive, growth focused environment. You will work closely with other team members to further develop your category and customer expertise and broaden your knowledge of the business.

Success in this role will evolve from strong project management, hands-on commercial analysis, thoughtful relationship building with internal and external partners, and the ability to present your ideas to inspire action.

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide excellent sales support to both Account Managers and Foodbuy Members to drive volume to our preferred supplier programs.
  • Manage supplier base to provide best value and support for our Members, holding both ourselves and our Supplier base accountable for most competitive programs possible and a great service experience. Proactively explore ways to enhance “Ease of Doing Business” with Foodbuy.
  • Identify cost reduction opportunities for Foodbuy Members while increasing preferred supplier sales and Foodbuy revenue.
  • Working with account managers, gain customer commitment to convert product purchases to Foodbuy’s supplier programs to achieve cost savings and margin improvements.
  • Develop a category and portfolio strategy in collaboration with your manager and suppliers that delivers strong financial results and value to our Members and Suppliers.
  • Establish price benchmarks and negotiate with suppliers to ensure our programs are competitive for Customers in all business segments.
  • Work cross-functionally to manage the implementation of new contracts or program changes.
  • Act as lead Foodbuy resource for Member requests related to your assigned categories.

What You’ll Need:

  • 3+ years experience in an Indirect or Non-Food product / services category management role or similar experience within an account management role required in areas such as Facility Services, Maintenance & Repairs, Operating Supplies or Foodservice Equipment and Smallwares.
  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required; significant related sourcing, category or account management experience may be considered in lieu of education
  • Proven track record of ability to influence in a cross functional organization including conflict resolution.
  • A great attitude – flexibility, optimism, resourcefulness and transparency.
  • A proven track record of delivering results while being self-motivated in a dynamic environment.
  • High attention to detail and exceptional work quality.
  • Strong negotiation experience achieving win-win solutions and mutual goals.
  • Excellent customer/client relationship building skills, both internally and externally.
  • Strong influencing skills to persuade people’s attitudes, behaviors, and decisions to desired results.
  • High proficiency level with MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint required.
  • Strong presentation and selling skills to manage implementation of key programs and presentations.
  • Capacity to handle multiple changing agendas and priorities yet stay in control of events and deadlines.
