Jr. Buyer

Data Electronic Devices, Inc., an Emerald Technologies company, has an exciting opportunity for a Junior Buyer to join our Salem, NH team! This position is responsible for procuring materials, components, equipment and services in a cost-effective and timely manner, along with reporting our ability to meet material need dates. The Junior Buyer helps the company secure new or repeat business by processing incoming quotations and turning those into completed proposals for customers.

Responsibilities of the Junior Buyer:

• Responsible for all tasks related to the procurement process, which includes, but is not necessarily limited to, the following: procuring components, data entry and maintaining of purchase orders, corresponding and negotiating pricing and delivery dates with suppliers, tracking and monitoring supplier performance against key measurements, minimizing excess material exposure and liability, balancing the cost of procurement with inventory investment levels, negotiating fair market pricing and continuously monitoring, expediting and verifying the material pipeline to assure MRP requirements are met.
• Strives to identify and implement continuous process improvements. Supports all quoting activity. Maintains knowledge of what information is required to obtain accurate quotes and ensures that the required information is available or requests it from the Account Managers or Sales Engineer responsible for the given quote.
• Prepares quote packages and solicits quotes from the supply base. Analyzes the quotations submitted for the best possible outcome for both companies.

Requirements of the Junior Buyer:

• Previous experience in a purchasing role; 3 years preferred.
• A bachelor’s degree or prior electronics/JIT/lean manufacturing experience is a plus.
• Analytical, detail-oriented and creative problem solver who can confidently make good decisions with the information available but knows when to ask for more.
• Organized and task-driven with the ability to multi-task.
• Technical reading ability preferred.
