The Denver Foundation seeks an equity-focused Advisor Relations Officer who centers on mission-based work supporting the foundation’s vision, mission, and purpose. Our advisor relations officer is a front-line relationship manager and business development position responsible for engaging and growing our professional advisor network.

The advisor relations officer, reporting to the senior director of philanthropic investments, offers a unique opportunity for personal and professional growth. With a focus on fundraising, planned giving, or financial services and a deep understanding of charitable giving products, this role also requires experience with volunteer committees, boards, or affinity groups and knowledge of the high-net-worth sector. The role also involves working with advisors and families of inter-generational wealth.

This is a full-time position in Denver, Colorado. We work on a hybrid schedule of at least two days in the office (Monday and Thursday required). The starting salary for this position is $65,000 to $75,000 per year. This position is salaried, exempt, and eligible for all the foundation’s benefits. Benefits include paid time off, retirement (403(b)) contribution, tuition assistance, and medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance. The starting salary will be based on experience.

For nearly 100 years, people in Metro Denver and across Colorado have trusted The Denver Foundation to steward charitable funds to meet today’s needs and tomorrow’s opportunities. The foundation's vision is a Metro Denver that is racially equitable in its leadership, prosperity, and culture, and we are a catalytic leader that engages in critical issues and accelerates systems change. To achieve this, all staff must intentionally apply Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to their practice. The ideal candidates for this position are committed to racial equity.

The advisor relations officer will engage and grow our network of professional advisors and qualify all professional advisors associated with donor funds; manage, recruit for, and engage our Professional Advisors Council as the foundation’s premier advisor engagement tool; identify, develop, and promote strategies that expand the diversity of the foundation’s advisor networks, and work with other impact group colleagues to drive advisor relations activities across the foundation. This position will partner with advisor networks to produce content and thought leadership on aspects of racial equity in the advisor industry, serve as the primary intake for new business inquiries from professional advisors, and partner with the Engaged Philanthropy and Philanthropic investment teams to develop a comprehensive plan for increasing Professional Advisor services and opportunities at the foundation.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated expertise in the following key areas:

  • Fundraising, gift planning, or financial services
  • Working with board members or volunteer committees
  • Working with the high-net-worth sector
  • Proofreading and copyediting
  • Working with and building relationships with people of diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and cultures
  • Working well independently while also effectively collaborating with others
  • Effectively communicating with internal stakeholders at all levels of the organization, as well as effectively communicating with external stakeholders

Candidates must possess the following:

  • At least five years of experience in fundraising, planned giving, or financial services
  • Experience working with volunteer committees, boards, or affinity groups
  • Knowledge and understanding of charitable giving products
  • Knowledge and understanding of the HNW wealth sector and tools and strategies in working with advisors and families of inter-generational wealth
  • Demonstrated ability to center principles of equity in their work and to build relationships with people of diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and cultures
  • Strong customer service orientation and excellent interpersonal and relational skills
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills
