Job Description
The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for supervising accounting departments, preparing reports and other duties as assigned by the Assistant Controller.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Reconcile account balances and bank statements, maintaining a general ledger, and preparing month-end close procedures.
- Develop and implement production standards for productivity, quality, and customer service for AR team.
- Hire, manage, and train AR team to effectively track and collect receivables.
- Act as liaison for all credit related issues as needed.
- Effective and professional communication in regards to customer chargebacks, from dispute to resolution, deductions, short pays and any other disputes.
- Create period receivable reports and summary reporting for vendors, charge customers & stores.
- Analyze financial information and generate reports to communicate financial status.
- Oversee the day-to-day collection effort, conducting collection calls and e-mails, and consistently following up with aged accounts.
- Must be able to assess existing processes and procedures for improvement opportunities related to account management to minimize operational risk while improving cash flow.
- Perform invoicing and payment reconciliation.
- Assist with period-end closing.
- Reconcile customer/vendor accounts,
- Perform credit checks on potential customers/vendors.
- Other duties as assigned by the CFO, Assistant Controller, or Controller.
Supervisory Responsibilities
The Accounting Supervisor will directly manage AR supervisor, accounting clerks, accounts receivable specialist, and billing clerks.
Education and Experience
- Undergraduate degree in accounting or the equivalent of a high school diploma and five years of experience working in the accounting department.
- 2+ years of supervisory experience is required.
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles
