This position sells air compressor products using technical, organizational, and customer knowledge to influence customers and assist them in applying the products to their needs resulting in revenue and profit generation. Provides input and participates in marketing of air compressor products. Sales focus on Industrial products with customer applications of 75hp and below compressor systems.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Develop sales proposals of air compressor products for customers and professionally present proposals to plant engineers, maintenance personnel, purchasing agents, and/or company executives
- Develop and maintain a Sub-Dealer network in the assigned territory promoting sales through their selling organization. Review and sign Dealer Contract with management, set goals, develop quotation forms, Product training to sales, etc.
- Research and establish OEM companies for providing compressor systems within the OEM package/product.
- Research and evaluate customer applications in order to properly size and develop a system layout that meets the customer’s needs
- Conduct air system data collection, survey report generation, and presentation to customers
- Ensure the establishment of industry contacts and further develop a list of potential customers
- Prospecting for business by following up on sales leads, making cold calls, and performing sales blitz’
- Maintain understanding of industry trends, technical developments, and government regulations that effect target markets
- Proactively take action to close orders and finalize contracts
- Meet established sales quotas, revenue goals, and profit goals.
- Assist to resolve customer issues with product and/or services
- Follow up on order scheduling (delivery, install, drawings, etc) for the customer
- Monitor and work within established expense allowance
- Generate detailed scope of supply (PMU), proposal, and customer PO and provide to Sales Coordinator for processing
- Research potential new markets, Government applications, and trends in specific industries.
- Collect payments and financial documents from customers, when required.
- Establish and maintain a teamwork approach in the area of aftermarket products and service departments in order to develop and maintain customer loyalty.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (including physical and work environment)
- Well developed sales and presentation skills
- Computer literacy is required, including a working knowledge of applications such as Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Also proficient in using / operating company business system, and/or outside CRM system.
- Basic mechanical and technical aptitude including geometric and other mathematical formulas
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to establish a solid relationship with manufacturer
- Proven interpersonal skills with both internal and external customers
- Basic marketing knowledge
- Must be able to handle high pressure situations and adapt well to changes in the market
- Associate’s degree or 2 to 5 years of sales experience (industrial sales preferred), or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to properly operate a forklift (company training is provided)
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on occassion
