Job Description

Founded by educators and technologists passionate about improving education, Clever is on a mission to unlock new ways to learn for all students. Already used by more than 75% of U.S. K-12 schools, Clever brings all applications into one secure portal and provides single sign-on for everyone. With the leading network of digital learning providers, Clever makes school more engaging, personalized, and fun.

As a Solutions Engineer, you will join Technical Implementation, a collaborative team responsible for ensuring the success of Clever's technical integrations and onboarding. You will apply your technical expertise and customer-facing skills in a role that spans technical pre-sales, integration design, solutions consulting, implementation, developer support, district admin support, and documentation creation. Your clients and partners will range from large districts to learning applications, so you will need to craft solutions to a large range of audiences. As an architect and builder of Clever's customer services offerings, you will empower developers and district admins to leverage Clever to their best benefit and in service of our mission to connect every student to a world of learning.

A DAY IN THE LIFE:

  • From pre-sales through implementation and post-go live support: provide subject-matter expertise for customized product offerings including analytics integrations, custom rostering solutions, and parent/staff SSO portals.
  • Leveraging expert knowledge of the end-to-end Clever platform and similar complex products in the EdTech and IT spaces, conduct technical discovery with district customers and collaborate closely with cross-functional teammates to provide technical pre-sales support. Thorough technical knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, Entra, and Windows devices is essential for this role.
  • Implement customized product solutions for customers, leveraging internal tools and coding skill sets that include SQL, scripting, and automation workflows.
  • Develop and support custom product solutions using SFTP, custom .csv extraction, data transport into data warehouses, lakes, and analytics platforms.
  • Sell customers on Clever's staff and parent portal and SSO offerings, and guide them through the implementation and go-live. Thorough technical knowledge of Google SSO, authentication, security factors, and devices is required for this role.
  • Delight clients as they are guided through the setup process for Clever paid offerings. After go-live, interface with customers and internal teams to track and resolve complex technical issues that arise with custom solutions.
  • Create technical documentation for developer and admin audiences, including detailed statements of work, integration documentation, flow charts and diagrams. Specify custom product solutions for RFP responses and help create customer-facing proposals that are tailored for school districts' needs.
  • Track project inputs and create robust technical documentation for internal audiences, covering integrations and custom solutions.
  • Interface with Product and Engineering teams to share regular updates. Surface key information about customer use cases and implementation needs.
  • The role prioritizes technical pre-sales and implementation for school districts'custom product services. As the platform and offerings continue to develop, Solutions Engineers may engage in technical pre-sales and implementation work for district and learning application product offerings, such as Secure Sync and LMS Connect.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

  • 2 or more years of relevant experience as a customer-facing technologist at the intersection of product, engineering, and business (e.g. sales engineer, partner engineer, solutions engineer).
  • Technical expertise and real-world programming experience. You don't have to be an engineer, but you'll be implementing and managing integrations while working with cross-functional teams on complex technical pre-sales opportunities and customer meetings.
  • Strong experience in technical pre-sales, working on applicable products in relevant sectors: SaaS, IT in Education, and EdTech.
  • Deep expertise in SQL and scripting languages.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to investigate and solve ambiguous, high-stakes technical problems.
  • Process improvement orientation and the ability to drive efficiencies for customers and Clever teams.
  • Commitment to delivering a world-class customer experience for customers, building trust through technical expertise, and deft customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong cross-functional orientation with a proven background of delivering results in collaboration with other teams while in a technical and customer-facing role.
  • Results-oriented and skilled at prioritizing to maximize impact and meet timelines for deliverables needed by internal and external stakeholders.
  • Relevant knowledge and experience in areas such as:
  • A connection to education, edtech, school system, and/or K-12 is strongly preferred.
  • Commitment to equity and belonging: Clever believes that the classrooms we serve and our company's halls should be spaces that are diverse, equitable and inclusive. We seek opportunities and celebrate actions that further allow us to build diverse teams, include every voice, and create a safe space for everyone to bring their authentic selves into the workplace
