Job Summary:
The Regional Sales Manager (RSM) drives business development through the acquisition of new direct customers, including distribution and channel partners. The RSM focuses on generating leads, advancing the sales process, closing new business, and the achievement of opportunity-based sales quotas as set and communicated by business leadership. The RSM-West covers the specific sales region of: Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Northern California, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming (the region may be adjusted by management, from time-to-time, based on business needs). The RSM-West must reside in the Western Region of the United States and willing to travel freely throughout their assigned region.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Drives profitable sales growth through new business development efforts while establishing constructive, sustainable relationships with customers and internal business partners.
- Pursues and generates new sales opportunities through data mining, cold-calling, lead follow-up (i.e., incoming customer emails, telephone calls, tradeshows, etc.), and networking with regional contractors, mechanical general contractors, architects, and industrial distributors.
- Collaborates with the RapidAir Industrial Market Manager to identify and develop relationships with regional architects, specifiers, and related general contractors.
- Collaborates with RapidAir Business Development and Inside Sales to identify strategic opportunities, establish sales tactics, and penetrate target customer applications.
- Consultatively determines and recommends the proper products for customer application requirements, serving as a strategic product specialist and trusted advisor.
- Assesses the competitive market landscape to recommend, develop, and implement growth strategies, maximizing sales opportunities, revenue, and profitability.
- Performs effectively within a cross-functional team comprised of internal and external stakeholders.
- Attends periodic planning meetings and training programs when and where applicable.
- Appropriately represents brand identity, business strategy, and product positioning.
- Completes timely and accurate reporting of sales opportunities, forecasts, and customer information in the CRM / Salesforce (SFDC).
- Performs other related duties as assigned by leadership.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Proven success in qualifying opportunities and establishing relationships with customer decision-maker(s) and critical influencers.
· Working knowledge of sales principles, methods, practices, and techniques.
· Solid experience in setting customer appointments, pre-call planning, call control, account development, and time management.
· Proven issue identification, value-creation, and deal-closing skills.
· Ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with customers.
· Ability to assist in establishing a Regional Sales Budget and following established guidelines.
· Self-motivated, with high energy and an engaging level of enthusiasm.
· Excellent listening skills. Ability to ascertain customer needs, pain points, and expectations.
· Exceptional verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
· Ability to perform basic assessments and calculations related to region/customer sales performance, opportunity pipeline, and quotations.
· Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
· Proficient working in a CRM environment, Salesforce preferred.
· Ability and willingness to travel via plane or car as required, approximately 60% overnight for customer meetings, sales events, conferences, tradeshows, etc.
· Adhere to all established company policies.
Education and Experience:
· B.S. in Sales, Business, Marketing, or related field preferred and/or equivalent work experience.
· Preferred five years of outside Industrial Sales or account management experience.
· Preferred experience in the architectural building materials or construction industry, selling to owners, general contractors, construction management firms, distribution, etc.
· Preferred technical knowledge of Commercial or Industrial building materials or other Compressed Air Products and Automation.
· CRM/Salesforce and sales forecasting experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to speak and communicate effectively and clearly.
· Ability to receive and appropriately act on communication and direction.
· Ability to work on a computer for extended periods.
· Ability to travel via plane and car for extended hours.
· Ability to lift sales samples, when needed, up to 40 pounds.
· Clean drug screening.
