JOB DESCRIPTION - SUMMARY

Southern States Packaging is the country’s leading manufacturer and supplier of converted paper and paperboard products for several domestic and international markets. SSPC currently has an opening for a Territory Manager who is based in the Northeastern US. This position manages all of SSPC’s sales activities in the Northeastern US and parts of Canada for sales of coated products. The primary focus of the Territory Manager is to grow new business while taking care of existing customers. The Territory Manager is home-office based with some flexibility regarding location. It requires willingness and ability to travel extensively in the United States and Canada. The role reports to the National Sales Manager and works as part of the Coated Products team.

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, ABILITIES AND SKILLS

  • Minimum 5 years of technical value-added selling experience
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • Fluent English, verbal and written (Canadian French beneficial but not necessary)
  • BA of Business, BS of Engineering, or comparable
  • Overall willingness to learn new systems and technology
  • Corrugated box familiarity and / or coating familiarity is a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with emphasis on Word, Excel, and Teams

DUTIES AND FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Customers – grow core accounts
  • Turn Prospects into accounts
  • Creating proposals, account or market plans, and forecast/report sales activity
  • Provide on-site process / technical consultation in customer plants
  • Provide training to customers
  • Gain insights/intel about market dynamics
  • Comply with company policies, procedures and instructions
  • Ability and willingness to travel within North America
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license and passport (or obtain one for travel to Canada)

THE PERSON IN THE TERRITORY MANAGER ROLE WILL LOOK LIKE

We are looking for a professional that will be able to interact easily with many different people and personality types internally and externally. They will be a team player, autonomous and most importantly they will be highly execution oriented (demonstrate ‘hustle’ to move fast on opportunities and follow up). Of high importance, they will bring value to customers through technical expertise that maximizes growth for Southern States Packaging.
