Sagent Pharmaceuticals is looking to hire a Senior Director of Sales and National Accounts, Ophthalmology who is responsible for national sales and national accounts, including Puerto Rico. This position will achieve assigned marketplace sales goals through creation and management of an Ophthalmology team. Establishing Sagent as a prime player in the Ophthalmology space. Primary functions will be to form and manage a sales and contracting team. Develop and implement sales program(s), national account contracts and compensation plan that achieve corporate sales goals through implementation of plans to generate Ophthalmology pull through sales.
Success in the role is measured on:
- Achieving assigned revenue and profitability goals through implementation of sales and contracting programs.
- Oversee and manage the internal ophthalmology support team.
- Completion of assigned projects.
- Operating within budget parameters.
- A key contribution to this role is gathering market intelligence on competitive products.
- Must possess the ability to assume market & product analytics, engage and participate in assigned company business calls and other related areas.

- Ensuring continued growth and profitability for the company.
- Increasing revenue by gaining new contract positions.
- Leverage strong/positive relationships with strategic customers.
- Securing contracts for newly launched products.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Building and maintaining effective/productive relationships with their respective team members, customers, and GPOs.
- Driving new revenue growth and customer loyalty through implementation of successful sales plans and programs.
- Personnel and program management of national ophthalmology sales.
- National account contracting expansion.
- Identify and participate in key National Ophthalmic trade shows.
- Participate and lead critical insights during forecasting sessions including current or projected sales volume and pricing needed to succeed.
- Identify critical molecules needed to drive success of Ophthalmic program.
Minimum Qualifications / Experience:
The successful candidate will develop and manage Sagent product sales to the ophthalmology market through optimization of the sales team. Acquisition of new sales is critical. A strong knowledge of Group Purchasing Organizations, Prime Vendors, Distributors, and multisource pharmaceuticals is mandatory.
Candidate must have proven success building and managing successful ophthalmology sales teams as well as creating and implementing sales programs and initiatives designed to grow sales and market share.
Education / Certifications:
- 7+ years of sales management experience in pharmaceutical market or comparable experience with a minimum of 5 years of experience in sales and national account management in the ophthalmic area.
- Demonstrated success in their previous sales career.
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher required. MBA preferred.
- Competence with Microsoft Office tools required.
- Successful applicant must pass a thorough background check.
- Valid driver’s license required.
Travel Requirements
- Approximately 25% travel across the US is anticipated.
