Downtown L.A. Proper Hotel has masterfully transformed a Renaissance Revival landmark building, part of Curlett & Beelman's iconic architectural stamp on L.A. Designer Kelly Wearstler seamlessly elevates 148 rooms and suites with compelling creative design, vintage California influences, and a trove of original works by L.A. artists. Discover a trio of inviting dining destinations in one historic location, helmed by James Beard Award-winners Suzanne Goin and Caroline Styne, along with a refined split-level rooftop pool-deck with uninterrupted views of city lights; plus 12,000 square feet of event spaces, including two suites that integrate the building’s sporting-club past by repurposing the vintage basketball court and indoor pool into inspired, unexpected design elements.

Position Overview:
The Sales Manager plays a pivotal role in driving revenue and maximizing room nights by overseeing the daily operations of the Sales function in our hotel. Responsible for soliciting business from various markets, including business travel, corporate, leisure, and entertainment, the Sales Manager is a key player in developing and maintaining long-term relationships with clients. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of hospitality-related sales experience, with previous hotel sales experience in a luxury or lifestyle market highly desirable. Strong sales skills, local market knowledge, and proficiency in forecasting, prospecting, PMS, and Delphi software are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities:
  • Market Segment Development: Fully develop market segments and achieve room night and revenue goals through strategic sales efforts.
  • Client Relationship Management: Cultivate long-term relationships with potential and established clients through effective verbal and written communication and exceptional customer service.
  • Key Account Management: Maximize revenue from current hotel key accounts while identifying and capturing opportunities for revenue growth.
  • New Business Development: Identify, target, and develop new key accounts that align with the hotel's target segments and revenue goals.
  • Account Management: Track and actively manage account production and arrivals, ensuring maximum revenue generation.
  • Cross-Selling Opportunities: Identify and cross-sell meetings and other offerings within the hotel and Proper portfolio.
  • Market Analysis: Analyze business opportunities, research market trends, monitor competition, and understand customer needs to capitalize on sales opportunities.
  • Team Training: Train and educate the property team on market segment expectations and processes to enhance sales effectiveness.
  • Trade Show Participation: Attend key trade shows to promote the hotel and establish relationships with potential clients.
  • Meeting Participation: Participate in monthly sales meetings, stand up daily meetings, and additional meetings as assigned by the Director of Sales and Marketing.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree desired.
  • Minimum of three years of hospitality-related sales experience.
  • Previous hotel sales experience in a luxury or lifestyle market highly preferred.
  • Strong sales skills with a proven track record of driving revenue.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, organizational, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in forecasting, prospecting, PMS, and Delphi software.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
