Summary

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Application Engineer, with liquid processing background, to join our sales team at a leading equipment manufacturing company. As an Application Engineer you will play a crucial role in providing technical expertise throughout the entire application development process, driving innovative solutions, and actively contributing to the sales process. Your abilities to analyze customer requirements and experience in engineering, knowledge and application of liquid equipment systems, problem-solving abilities, and sales acumen will be essential in ensuring customer satisfaction, successful implementation of our solutions, and driving revenue growth. This role requires a strong background in engineering, excellent communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Engage in comprehensive discussions with customers to understand their specific requirements and challenges.
  • Collaborate with the Liquids Team and inside sales resources to provide guidance and consultation on the best approaches and solutions to meet their needs, considering factors such as rate, product type, viscosity, and specifications. Leverage your technical expertise to integrate our products into existing production lines, ensuring seamless functionality, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Works within the Innovation Center and Application Workshop (ICAW) to coordinate product demonstrations, technical presentations, and proof-of-concept (POC) implementations tailored to project requirements.
  • Act as the sales technical consultant, providing guidance and addressing technical inquiries and changes or concerns related to process solutions during customer interactions and negotiations. Provide details and assistance to resolve concerns related to the application, including equipment maintenance, optimization, and potential process improvements.
  • Oversee and participate in on-site visits and assessments, evaluating installation requirements, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring seamless integration of our equipment and systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to ensure timely delivery of solutions to resolve technical challenges, while addressing customer requirements and sales objectives.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, advancements in liquid processing technology, and competitive analysis, leveraging this knowledge to drive continuous product improvement, innovation, and sales differentiation.
  • Provide training and technical assistance to internal teams, including sales, customer support, and field service engineers, to enhance their understanding of liquid processes, requirements, and systems to ensure efficient customer support.
  • Collaborate with the product development team to provide valuable customer feedback for the continuous improvement of our solutions. Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitor offerings to contribute to ongoing product enhancement initiatives specific to the liquid industry.
  • Act as a subject matter expert, representing the company at conferences, trade shows, and industry events, and actively engage in building strong customer relationships and promoting our liquid equipment solutions.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of our liquid product portfolio, including new releases and updates. Stay abreast of industry regulations, standards, and best practices to enhance your technical expertise.

Requirements / Education

  • Bachelor's degree (and/or 3+ years relevant experience) in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. Relevant certifications, additional technical training, or similar role in liquid industries are advantageous.
  • Understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems, conveyor systems, and packaging materials for liquid products. Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for designing liquid systems and familiarity with controls architecture and PLC based machine controls are desirable.
  • Proven experience in application engineering or a similar technical role within the liquid equipment manufacturing industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of liquid equipment systems, including pumps, valves, tanks, and associated control systems, with a deep understanding of their applications and performance characteristics.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, enabling you to assess complex customer needs and design innovative solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts and sales advantages to diverse audiences to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams and build lasting customer relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and collaborate within a team environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously and delivering exceptional results.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required to support customer visits, installations, and project management.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, ensuring the successful execution of projects within defined timelines.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with changing priorities and deadlines in the context of the liquid packaging industry. Willingness to learn and adapt quickly to new technologies and industry trends.
  • Experience with project management methodologies and tools, guiding projects from conception to completion, including resource allocation, budgeting, and risk management. Knowledge of industry regulations and standards related to liquid systems is desirable.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Pay: $45,670.77 - $98,904.09 per year
