The Langley Chamber is one of the region's largest and most active business associations, representing 1,000 member businesses who are working together to build a stronger Langley business community. We speak on matters affecting our members, advocate for investments and policies to help businesses succeed, engage on community-building initiatives, and create opportunities for connection and collaboration between businesses.
The Chamber offers a lively, engaging work environment in an organization that's all about supporting and growing our local community. We're looking to grow our team with this part-time position dedicated to connecting and welcoming more businesses into our network.
The Membership Development Lead manages and executes the chamber’s growth efforts by attracting and onboarding new members into the organization. This position will build relationships and connections with existing and new members, representing the Chamber brand positively as they engage with the Langley business community.
This part-time role is ideal for someone interested in and comfortable with engaging and connecting with local businesses while delivering and advancing the Chamber’s positive, collaborative, pro-business message.
Key responsibilities will include:
· Lead the Chamber’s new member acquisition efforts, including developing sales, outreach and recruitment strategies to identify non-member leads and grow the Chamber’s membership
· Grow the Chamber’s membership through outbound calls, personal business visits, managing inbound/inside sales inquiries and other methods
· Participating in the member renewal process, including following up with direct, personal outreach to past-due members to re-engage in the chamber, overcome objections and confirm renewal, working in partnership with the Membership Coordinator and CEO
Ideal skills and attributes may include:
· Experience or interest in sales, including cultivating leads, pursuing sales appointments, making successful cold calls, and closing sales
· Strong telephone, written/email, and spoken communication skills
· Strong ability to socialize well with members, business owners and government/municipal officials
· A team player, willing to contribute to the bigger picture and organizational goals
· Ability to deal tactfully with other staff members and the general public
· Ability to build and maintain relationships and partnerships
· Valid BC Driver’s license and use of personal vehicle
We're offering a base hourly compensation plus a strong commission rate on all membership sales as part of our compensation package.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.00 per hour
