DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The position is accountable for the planning, coordination, implementation and assessment of a broad range of services that include business operations, and office administration. The staff member has a thorough understanding of the department’s operations, creates integrative and collaborative opportunities between department units within the college to streamline processes and strengthen business acumen. The coordinator handles the day-to-day business and financial operations of the athletics & recreation department, including varsity, athletic facility and campus recreation budgetary expenditures.
  • Process all business transaction and financial operations of the athletics and recreation department. Ensure compliance with institutional financial procedures and guidelines. Process Purchase Requisitions and authorize payment of invoices.
  • Monitor all athletic department expenses working closely with the Director of Athletics to ensure the most effective and efficient operation and documentation of expenses. Creating financial reports and assisting in the review and develop of future annual operating budgets with the programs housed within the athletics department.
  • Performs financial analysis on revenue and expenses, including statistical, historical reviews and financial record keeping.
  • Source goods and services for the department of Athletics. While working closely with department staff to determine needs in all areas, the Co-ordinator sources goods and services for all areas of Athletics as well as connect with the Procurement office for tender, quotes and purchase requirements including capital projects.
  • Ensures compliance with OCAA, CCAA and institutional regulations and guidelines. Assist with compliance reporting on operation revenue and expenses in full compliance with, OCAA, CCAA and College requirements ensuring full adherence to regulations and timelines. As well as building and creating bid budgets for Provincial and National Championship events.
  • Financial account management for varsity teams. Includes working closely with all 13 varsity programs and head coaches to ensure meal subsidy expenses and recruiting expenses are processed and justified following trips. Co-ordinate all varsity team fundraising financial aspects, including deposit procedures and account supervision.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Three-year diploma or degree in Sport Management, Sport Business Management, Commerce.
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience in Business Administration
  • Experience in post-secondary athletics is an asset
  • A high degree of detail, accuracy and customer service.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as work collaboratively with team members.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication skills.
