POSITION OVERVIEW

The Director of Sales, Robertson Building Systems reports to the Vice President of Sales, Buildings and will lead a team of sales professionals within the Shelter Solutions business unit serving Robertson customers where they conduct business in Canada and the USA. This leader will be responsible for driving sales strategies that grow our share within the targeted Shelter portfolio of products including Complex Metal Buildings, Simple Metal Buildings and Commercial Components. They will work closely with the functional support teams that support Robertson and broader Canadian business consistently executing our value proposition -winning on customer experience. This individual will also be responsible for working with the Vice President and functional leaders in a General Manager capacity, managing the P&L of Robertson.

The successful candidate must be highly motivated, growth-oriented, able to think strategically while delivering tactically and must be collaborative with strong communication skills. This role will work in close collaboration with Sales, Estimating, Engineering, Business Development, Marketing, Sourcing/Procurement, Sales Operations, Vendor Relations, and the Vice President to drive the sales performance of the Robertson business. The position will be responsible for setting a clear vision for our sales strategy that aligns with our overall Shelter business unit strategy and consistently delivering sales targets.

RESPONSIBILITES

  • Coach, develop, train, professionalize and grow the sales teams within our Robertson business – elevate the skills of sales professionals
  • Develop and execute sales strategies to grow the business, consult with potential target customers to understand needs and identify current or future products, equipment or services that will meet those needs
  • Organizes and oversees the schedules, territories, and performance of sales professionals
  • Manage Robertson P&L, driving profitable growth and expanding EBITDA while controlling costs
  • Work closely with other Cornerstone Building Brands business leaders in both the US and Canada while maintaining a close connection with the President of Canada
  • Work with pricing team to execute pricing strategy and deliver profitability targets while balancing volume growth aspirations
  • Develop, maintain and analyze key Sales scorecards and KPI’s to drive performance: Backlog, bid activity, sales product type, profit, revenue, win/loss rate, lead conversion, etc. – produce and deliver insights for Monthly Operating Review and other presentations.
  • Partner with plant network to drive an industry leading customer experience, drive volume and revenue growth, a winning customer experience
  • Strategically assess operational barriers, resource needs and growth opportunities to grow our business with a focus on Complex Metal Buildings, Simple Metal Buildings and Components
  • Partner with VP of Sales to identify M&A targets and develop strategies for integration
  • Collaborate with Marketing to ensure appropriate branding and product placement for local markets and digital sites.
  • Work with other leaders to drive integration and be a culture carrier in the event of expansive M&A
  • Serves as company representative, as needed, with industry organizations or at trade associations/shows
  • Works with Field Services to resolve customer quality issues and collaborates with Field Services, plants and branches to address root causes
  • Other activities and projects as assigned/required

QUALIFICATIONS

Education / Additional Requirements

  • 10+ years in sales with at least 5 years of sales leadership or general management, ideally in building products
  • MBA degree or equivalent preferred
  • Executive presence; must possess confidence and assertiveness in actions and idea sharing
  • Critical and strategic thinker who can manage the big picture and more granular details
  • Demonstrated ability to drive and influence change organizationally and within cross functional teams.
  • Exceptional organization skills with ability to prioritize and execute promptly.
  • Excellent presentation skills and experience presenting pricing concepts and data in a simplified manner.

  • Must be a data-driven, critical thinker capable of managing multiple data streams and managing the near-term market while building longer-term strategies
  • Outcome-driven orientation with a demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a high-performing team
  • Proven leadership, influence, and collaboration in a matrixed organization
  • Strong understanding of sales and building materials economic drivers with the ability to leverage those insights into results
  • Must be willing to have professionally challenging conversations that are productive not destructive
  • Proven experience managing a P&L
  • Must be willing to travel up to 50% and spend time in the Robertson office in Brantford, ONSelf-starter who acts with urgency and care
  • Savvy negotiator
  • CRM proficiency – Microsoft Dynamics preferred
  • Highly skilled at building and interpreting analytics models to drive insights and actions
  • Ability to manage and execute multiple projects simultaneously without sacrificing quality
  • Highly accountable to multiple stakeholders
  • Skilled at simplifying the complex and influencing in a cross functional, fast-paced environment
  • Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills
