ACCOUNT DEVELOPMENT REPRESENTATIVE – West Michigan
Reports to: Sales Director
Type: Full Time – Exempt, Salary
This person's mission is to uncover and drive product and service opportunities for new and existing customers. This is an outside sales position that requires a self-motivated individual who understands our product and service offerings and is capable of developing relationships with our customers based on trust. The goal is to understand the needs of our customers, identify where GR Metrology is able to meet those needs, and fulfill those needs in the most effective and valuable way.
This position provides a vehicle allowance, with local daytime travel in the West Michigan area, along with flexibility - your office is on the road, at your home, and in our Grand Rapids, MI HQ.
CRITICAL FUNCTIONS
  • Uncover product and service opportunities, qualify, quote, and facilitate successful handoff to service department to execute
  • Continuously build list of prospects to target and earn their business
  • Identify the unique needs of new and existing customers and deliver our value with honesty and integrity
  • Train the customer/prospect on the best and most effective way for GR Metrology to meet their needs
  • Provide consultation to existing accounts to expand GR Metrology’s services within them
  • Gather feedback from accounts on how GR Metrology can improve its services and share with appropriate personnel
  • Participate in team meetings and report on market trends, competitive intelligence, and changes in customer business that may affect GR Metrology
  • Submit all quotes, logs, development plans, commission reports, etc. on time and accurately
  • Develop and communicate presentations on GR Metrology’s capabilities and how those can add value to a customers’ operation
To be successful in this role, we’re seeking someone who:
  • Is a great communicator and makes customers feel at ease and assured that they understand the technical aspects of the equipment they’re selling
  • Is metrics and goal oriented. We focus on what the numbers are telling us, and you will be measured and held accountable to meet KPI’s and goals
  • Has a lot of flexibility and resilience. This person needs to be able to operate “in the grey” and adapt to different customers and industries
  • Takes ownership of understanding the technical aspects of the role and what customers need from their salesperson and GR Metrology
  • Has a hunter mentality and is motivated by winning new business

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
  • HS Diploma or GED Required
  • 2+ years of experience in outside sales is required
  • Proven background providing customers with exceptional service
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or related field preferred but not required
  • Ability to travel regionally required, with a valid driver’s license
  • Team player with leadership mentality and ability to drive results
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Top notch computer skills
  • Ability to drive, sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time
