The Field Solutions Engineer will be responsible for working opportunities in the areas of Hybrid /Cloud and Managed Services (CMS), and Large Retail Colocation. The candidate will be responsible for Regional Partner development and technical enablement, including attending Partner functions, and providing formal and informal presentations that encompass the features and functionality of Flexential’s products and services, and their underlying technologies. The candidate will be responsible for new logo CMS Deal Pursuit by providing pre-sales technical expertise to the National Sales Team (with Regional Affinity) through direct interaction with prospects on calls and in-person meetings. The successful candidate will be well versed in Cloud and Managed Services to supply complete solutions to new CMS customers. The candidate will be competent in complex web, application, database, virtualization, internet, networking, and storage technologies, as well as the ability to design and document appropriate cloud and dedicated architectures that meet clients’ application, performance, and budgetary requirements. Field SE's will also support retail colocation opportunities that are medium sized, up to 500KW. When Colocation is a part of the CMS solution in a Hybrid configuration, candidate will solution appropriate colocation architectures that meet customer requirements.

The Field Solutions Engineer II - Channel will be responsible for working with Flexential channel partners who register referral or resale lead opportunities. The position will be accountable for growth targets within existing channel partner accounts and new growth partner accounts tied to the Flexential West sales territory, working closely with the Regional Partner Managers assigned to that territory who own the overall commercial relationship with these partner accounts.

Examples of partner accounts include:

  • Technology services distributors.
  • Telecommunications agents.
  • Value-added technology resellers.
  • Other partners who sell to end customers and work with service providers like Flexential for data center colocation and cloud services referrals.

The Field Solutions Engineer II - Channel will train and enable commercial and technical sellers at partner accounts to maximize lead productivity. Examples of activities will include training partner sellers on overall Flexential cloud and data center services, specific technical use cases for Flexential services, training on ideal customer profiles, demonstrating win examples, leading data center tours and cultivating relationships with key technical sellers at identified accounts to maximize pipeline productivity.

The candidate will be competent in private and public cloud platforms (AWS, VMware), server computing, virtualization, software-defined networking, and storage technologies, as well as effectively communicating with comfort when speaking to large audiences in training engagements and public speaking events.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions

  • Attend qualified partner sales calls and meetings (25%-50% travel may be required). Partner interactions will be highly consultative in manner.
  • Keep current on all product offerings, industry trends, and technologies in the managed IT services marketplace.
  • Possess the ability to ask open-ended questions to potential partners to uncover critical business drivers and discover required data to formulate solutions.
  • Provide regional data center tours when necessary.
  • Perform other duties as required and assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in an IT related industry or equivalent preferred
  • A minimum of 6-9 years of experience in industry relevant sales, consulting and/or sales engineering
  • A demonstrated ability to design & explain solutions to both business and technical audiences

Preferred Qualifications

  • Must be technical, team-oriented, and have a documented path of success and contribution to a growing business in managed IT services.
  • Must have the ability to grasp complex technical issues and translate them into non-technical solutions that address and solve the underlying business needs
  • Solid understanding of multi-tier highly available cloud-based web applications and architecture methodologies, with the ability to design the correct infrastructure based on given requirements and make recommendations towards architecture changes when appropriate
  • Must be detail-oriented, organized, driven, and have excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • High-energy individual with a positive attitude, good teamwork skills, the ability to have excellent customer rapport, and the ability to provide an exceptional customer presentation experience.
  • Persistent but pragmatic: willing to be flexible and adaptable to change.
  • Strong working knowledge of data center infrastructure components
  • Strong working knowledge of cloud platforms and hypervisor technologies (i.e.. VMware, AWS, Hyper-V, Azure, Google Compute Platform)
  • Strong working knowledge of x86 enterprise server hardware and operating systems such as Windows & Linux and other technically viable Operating Systems
  • Working knowledge of the MySQL, MS-SQL, and Oracle database environments, including familiarity with typical high-availability deployments.
  • Depth of knowledge of SANs and designing storage to meet performance and size requirements.
  • Depth of knowledge of Firewalls, Load Balancers, Switches
  • Working knowledge of data center and IT security best practices.
  • Understanding of DR best practices, with the ability to connect specific technical solutions to business impact in a failover scenario.
  • Customers and prospects feel the credibility that the SE understands their needs, can understand their questions, and offers plausible solutions.
  • Self-directed, self-motivated, and accomplishment-oriented – possesses the drive and determination to succeed.
  • Quick on feet – can address the challenges presented during sales conversations and turn around complex solutions and associated documentation quickly and accurately.
  • Easily adaptable to a fast-paced business environment

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in an office environment
  • Ability to work remotely when required with sufficient workspace, cell phone connectivity, and an adequate Internet connection.
  • Ability to use the computer keyboard and mouse for extended periods of time
  • After hours networking and customer interaction required
  • Travel 25% of the time

Benefits are subject to change at the Company’s discretion.

Base Pay Range: Annualized salary range offered for this position is estimated to be $120,000 - 140,000. However, the actual pay range depends on each candidate’s experience, location, and qualifications.

Variable Pay: Discretionary annual bonus, based on personal and company performance.
