Job Description
The Outside Sales Representative, is primarily responsible for generating new business for the Company through identifying and soliciting new customers. As a brand ambassador, this position drives business success by increasing sales for the organization. Possessing substantial knowledge of the suite of products and services offered by the Company, the Sales Representative, uses a consultive approach to sell to businesses or groups of individuals. The Sales Representative, is accountable for positively representing the Company in all business endeavours, building trust within business relationships, and is committed to providing the best possible value to clients by suggesting products and services that are best suited to client needs. This position requires a considerable amount of travel.
Essential Functions:
- Identify and solicit new clients through various channels.
- Travel within sales territory to meet prospective and new clientele.
- Accountable for meeting established sales targets.
- Negotiate and close sales deals.
- Visit on-site locations to evaluate the needs of the client or to promote product or service sales.
- Assess client needs, recommend, or assist in the selection of appropriate products or services that can meet clients’ needs.
- Emphasize product features, based on analyses of customers’ needs and on technical knowledge of product capabilities and limitations.
- Answer customers’ questions about products, prices, availability, product uses, and credit terms.
- Obtain and read blueprints or specifications for estimating project costs.
- Estimate or quote prices, contract terms, and delivery dates in keeping with Company policies and procedures.
- Ensure timely submission of estimates.
- Perform administrative duties including but not limited to updating new client information, keeping sales records, etc.
- Timely completion and submission of sales report.
- Attend department meetings as required.
- Contribute to sales department initiatives.
- Participates in client turnover meeting with Account Representative in keeping with Company policies and procedures.
- Research and monitor market conditions, product innovations, market trends, and competitors’ products and prices.
- Compliance with all Company policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates courtesy and professionalism with all team members, clients, and homeowners.
Essential Functions continued:
- Assists Accounts Receivable in the collection of payment on new sales accounts as necessary.
- Performs ad-hoc projects as directed by the Regional Sales Manager.
Work Environment: Office, Construction Sites, Residential Homes, Showroom.
Tools: Cell Phone, Computer, Laser Printer, Calculator, Scanner, Photocopiers.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Education:
- High School Diploma.
- University Degree in Engineering, Interior Design, or Business or College Diploma in Construction Engineering Technology or Architectural Technology or other program related to the business.
- Health & Safety Courses/Training: WHMIS and Health & Safety Awareness Training (HSAT).
- Valid G class Driver’s License.
Experience:
- 2+ years’ sales experience required – focus on building material or manufacturing sales preferred
- Previous residential construction experience is preferred.
