Tubular USA, (a division of SPS) founded in 1993, is one of the nation’s largest suppliers of galvanized steel pipe and tubing. Headquartered in Weldon Spring, Missouri, Tubular USA has an experienced staff with over 100 collective years of pipe and tubing experience. We supply a wide range of pipe and tubing products, both galvanized and uncoated, in round and various shapes. We also provide value-added fabrication services including (but not limited to) cutting, swaging, bending, punching, welding, and special packaging.


Position Description:

As an Account Manager, you will use your interpersonal skills, organizational abilities, sales experience, and knowledge of the market to develop new prospects and maintain existing relationships with customers. You will talk with customers on the phone and through email from the office in Weldon Spring, MO, and you will occasionally meet them face-to-face when conducting field visits. By expertly meeting customer needs, you will ensure Tubular USA’s sustained growth as a business.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Enter, track, and trouble-shoot orders in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that customer expectations regarding quality, delivery, accuracy, and follow-up on orders are met.
  • Collaborate with the sales management team to develop programs, pricing arrangements, and supply agreements that focus on services rather than pricing.
  • Target and research new business opportunities
  • Cold call leads from Tubular USA and conduct research to cultivate relationships and generate new business.
  • Effectively use the company’s technology platforms to:
    • Communicate specific information regarding a customer visit or phone call.
    • Document customer problems and initiate internal action plans to correct issues.
    • Track daily sales data and quotes.

Physical & Work Requirements:

  • Ensure professional appearance for meeting with internal and external customers.
  • Requires ability to perform primary job responsibilities while spending long periods of time in front of the computer.
  • Occasional travel required, including visits to the mill, various customers, and prospects.

Required Background, Competencies & Expertise:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Highly proactive and takes great initiative; proven self-starter; goes the extra mile.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to plan/schedule/set appointments, etc.
  • Strong customer orientation with proven relationship building skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to maintain composure and be able to search for a solution to a problem without blaming others.
  • High learning agility

Preferred Background, Competencies & Expertise:

  • Proven experience in a role responsible for managing the needs of customers.
  • Knowledge of general principles of business related to revenue generation, cost impacts and bottom-line results.
