Job Description
The Business Development Leader is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with new and existing customers within a defined territory. He/she works with peers across the team's sales territory to achieve sales and profitability targets.
Primary Responsibilities
- Create and maintain an effective business plan that results in the achievement of sales targets and other key performance indicators. This plan includes a separate component for each key customer.
- Plan and execute calls to qualified customers in order to build long-term relationships and induce buying preferences. The list of qualified customers includes plumbing stores, distributors, plumbers, contractors, builders, developers, architects, designers and other key influencers.
- Work effectively with peers, internal teams and the manager to promote a global sales approach for the team, for example through regular communication practices: product training, updating paper and electronic price lists, tracking orders, following up on service calls, handling merchandise returns and any other practices required for business development and customer support.
- Provide a weekly analysis and report of activities in the sales territory and a monthly sales forecast report.
- Attend appropriate promotional events and assist our customers at industry trade shows.
- Execute all assigned tasks within the sales territory.
- Effectively manage sales expenses.
Profile
- College degree preferred;
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in wholesale sales related to the construction industry or in a specification role. Plumbing experience is an asset;
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills;
- Demonstrated past success in sales, leadership and teamwork.
- Willing to be on the road nearly 70% of the time.
