Lab Product Specialist (Life Sciences)


WHAT YOU WILL ACHIEVE


The Lab Product Specialist will join our Product team in developing and delivering laboratory and scientific-focused products to maximize their impact in fulfilling Addgene’s mission. Key responsibilities include assisting Product Managers in planning and communicating product roadmap initiatives, collaborating with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, creating wireframes and mockups for user stories and conducting CX research. These contributions will allow the Product team to make important strides toward contributing to Addgene’s strategic priorities.

This is a hybrid role, with lots of flexibility!
Our office is located at 490 Arsenal Way in Watertown, Massachusetts. Our beautiful office space has free, ample parking with a complimentary shuttle from Harvard Square and is on multiple bus lines, with the cost of public transit covered by Addgene (if onsite at least 4 days/week).

You must be a resident in one of the following states: MA, VT, ME, RI, NC, FL, CO and OH.

In joining our team as an “Addgenie”, you will work with multidisciplinary internal teams to help fulfill this mission, including scientists, software engineers and product developers, renowned customer support teams, marketing gurus, and business development professionals. Together, Addgenies create and enhance opportunities for research scientists to deposit their materials, find products and resources easily on our website, and receive unparalleled support in receiving and expertly using our materials in their own experiments.

The Role:

As part of Addgene's product development practice, you will support laboratory/scientific-focused product discovery and product delivery activities that help meet the Product team's goal to maximize the impact Addgene’s products have on the fulfillment and furthering of our mission.

To Succeed in this Role, You Will:

  • Assist Product Managers with planning and communicating product roadmap initiatives
  • Collaborate and support the Product team when working cross-functionally with key stakeholders to gather requirements for product features and enhancements
  • Produce wireframes and mockups for user stories when necessary
  • Assist with the creation of user stories, ensuring that acceptance criteria is clear and story artifacts (e.g. wireframes, mockups) are correct
  • Assist with CX research and gathering metrics/KPI data for major epics
  • Assist Product Owner with user acceptance testing stories to ensure acceptance criteria is met
  • Help triage urgent issue bugs that are reported by stakeholders and customers
  • Create bug tickets on behalf of stakeholders

Skills and Competencies

  • 2 years of professional experience in a Product Specialist, Business Analyst, or managerial role within laboratory or scientific environment
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environment
  • Comfortable soliciting and providing direct and impactful product feedback, particularly in the context of a laboratory information management system
  • Possess outstanding interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, with an emphasis on effective communication within a scientific team
  • Ability to analyze and solve complex problems specific to laboratory and scientific workflows, from initial conception to implementation
  • Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction to accomplish objectives on time
  • Bachelor’s degree or possess an equivalent combination of applicable education, training, and industry-related work experience, with a preference for degrees in relevant scientific or technical fields
  • Bonus if you have:
    • Experience in life sciences and/or healthcare industries
    • Understanding of content or configuration management via a CMS
    • Experience with these tools: JIRA, Miro, Figma, or Balsamiq
    • Any coding experience: CSS3, HTML5, JavaScript, or Python
