The Sales Engineer will serve as a vital link between our technical products and our customers, focusing on inside sales, project estimation, and maintaining strong client relationships. This role requires a blend of sales experience, technical acumen, and strong mathematical skills to effectively assess project requirements and provide tailored solutions.

Physical Requirements:
- Walking & Mobility: Frequent walking on the manufacturing floor, including navigating uneven surfaces and ascending/descending stairs.
- Work Environment: Ability to work in various areas of the manufacturing plant with exposure to machinery, noise, dust, and fluctuating temperatures. Willingness to travel to trade shows and customer sites as needed.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Develop an in-depth knowledge of the company’s products and services, including technical specifications and benefits.
- Read, interpret, and review grating products on contract and erection drawings.
- Collaborate with the Product Development Engineering team to establish optimal solutions for projects.
- Conduct accurate project estimations and material take-offs from specifications and customer drawings.
- Maintain accurate tracking of projects, bidders' lists, and special market segment initiatives.
- Manage customer relationships throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring seamless communication and project hand-offs to manufacturing.
- Create and submit quotes in response to bid opportunities, ensuring accuracy and clarity in proposals.
- Follow up on open quotes and maintain strong problem-solving capabilities to address customer challenges.
- Process sales orders upon receipt of POs and engage in cross-training as needed.
Communication and Value Engineering:
- Build strong relationships with customers and communicate clearly with team members across departments.
- Review and recommend specific products while applying value engineering techniques as appropriate.
Education, Work Experience, and Proficiencies:
Needed:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Structural Engineering.
- Proven experience in selling complex technical solutions.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills to support project estimations.
- Excellent communication skills, emotional intelligence, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in CRM systems for sales tracking and management.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Preferred:
- Experience as a Sales Engineer in the metals industry.
- Advanced degree (Master’s or MBA) in a related field.
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
- Familiarity with EPICOR ERP systems.
