JOB TITLE/
Bilingual Sales Engineer
LOCATION/
Montreal QC – Remote. (Expectation to come to the Ottawa office on occasion)
POSITION OVERVIEW/
Reporting to the VP, Construction and Channel Sales; the responsibility of the sales engineer is to bridge the gap between technical expertise and sales. Sales engineers combine their technical knowledge and understanding of products or services with their sales skills to help customers understand the value and benefits of a product or solution. RESPONSIBILITIES/
- Create, receive, and interpret project design plans, camera, intercom location and building drawings to determine scope of work and create estimates and quotes.
- Work with the security integrators to compile the cost of materials and equipment required based on the proposal, plans, estimates and specifications for successful completion of the IOT projects.
- Visit sites, warehouses, and other venues to gather essential information.
- Manage capital asset acquisition to ensure each asset is property recorded and amortized as well as disposed of when necessary.
- Discussing equipment needs and system requirements with customers and engineers.
- Collaborate with sales teams to understand customer requirements and provide technical sales support.
- Successfully match customer pain/requirements to proposed solutions.
- Research, develop, and modify specifications in conjunction with Product Design and Software Development to meet customers' technical requirements and needs.
- Collect and document competitive intelligence.
- Effectively communicate client needs to the R&D/ Development teams for future product enhancements.
- Provide technical sales assistance to the Sales Team virtually and on client sites.
- Train other members of the sales team on the technical aspects of the company's products and services.
- Conduct product demos of our smart building operating system (virtual and in person)
- Collaborate with sales teams to understand customer requirements and provide sales support.
- Partner with sales executives to plan, prepare and execute strategic deals in complex sales cycles.
- Generate high-quality sales leads, following up after initial contact, securing and renewing orders, negotiating prices, completing sales, and arranging deliveries.
- Establish and maintain relationships with partners and clients to generate maximum revenue from those accounts.
- Help customers who have problems with installed products and recommending improved or upgraded materials and machinery.
- Solicit and log client feedback and evaluate the data to create new sales and marketing strategies to target customers.
- Set and achieve sales goals and quotas.
QUALIFICATION/
- Requirements:
- 5+ years experience in a technical sales role
- Bilingual, French/English mandatory
- Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle is required (travel required - mileage is reimbursed)
- Proven experience within the construction or security fields in a sales environment
- Previous sales experience working with integration or security companies and/or in the following categories: access control, CCTV, Smart building components such as door locks, thermostats
- Experience working in fast-paced environment (high growth company or startup)
- Deep understanding of research methodology, data analysis and estimation metrics
- Comfortable with numbers and technology (heavy use of Excel and Hubspot)
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
