The Key Account Manager as a member of the Sales team is assigned key customer accounts and is responsible for all the short and long-term sales goals for those accounts. These accounts may be assigned based on territory, industry, product segment or channel. The Key Account Manager completely owns the relationship with the customers and is responsible for customer satisfaction, differentiation, account management and all sales quotations and bookings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead, manage and own the customer relationships for customers assigned
- Grow sales at assigned customers to meet annual and multi-year sales objectives.
- Achieve specific revenue goals by customer and in total for targeted fiscal years
- Determine customer interest and market potential in expansion of current Telamon manufacturing capabilities in order to grow sales
- Daily interaction with customer purchasing peers and with contacts in Program Management, QA, and plant-based Customer Service Representative with the primary focus working with our customers to grow the business including negotiating agreements for specific programs and in long-term agreements
- Promote Telamon’s early involvement in product design, prototyping, and special program needs with the customer
- Take the lead and participate in the completion of cost breakdowns, Team Feasibility documents and quotations for customers assigned
- Utilize current sales forecasting tool to identify short-term and long-term opportunities and progress in meeting the sales goals
- Provide input into the customer’s planned purchases and of any changes that may affect the sales forecast
- Manage 100% compliance with opportunity tracking in CRM system on a weekly basis
- Assure that all awarded business elements are 100% accurate in CRM system and that key documents are uploaded
- Understand and comply with Telamon's Quality Policies
- Meet the requirements of AIAG TS16949 Customer Satisfaction and Contract Review
Managerial Responsibility
- This position does not have direct reports.
Travel/Shift Requirements
- Local and occasional international travel (Mexico) Is required.
Physical Demands
- The position requires frequent sitting and keyboarding.
- This position is expected to occasionally lift up to 10 pounds.
Skills and Abilities Required
- Ability to work independently while maintaining robust communication with management regarding activities
- Ability to effectively meet customer's needs, build productive internal and external stakeholder relationships, and take responsibility for customer satisfaction and loyalty
- Ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) effectively with all stakeholders and senior business leadership of internal departments and customers

- Ability to escalate to the appropriate person, at the appropriate time, and in the appropriate manner
- Ability to manage multiple parallel initiatives and activities
- Ability to understand the financial impact of decisions on the profitability of the proposed initiatives
- Ability to understand mechanical drawings and recommend cost and processing improvements accordingly
- Proficiency with basic office and sales management software.
Education and Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Management, or related field
- 5-7 years of sales or account management experience with Tier 2 and/or Tier 3 automotive suppliers, wire harness experience preferred
- Working knowledge of relevant clients, products, and services and experience developing commercial proposals in target industry
- Business experience relevant to the assigned accounts strongly preferred.
