Job Description
SUMMARY
The Sales and Meeting Supervisor is an energetic, dynamic, innovative individual who has a desire to work in a results-driven and fast paced environment. They will be responsible for soliciting and maintaining catering clients, booking and managing catering events in addition to providing the Sales Department with administrative support.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Handle all incoming catering/sales and email inquiries and communicate them accurately to the appropriate manager in a timely fashion
- Prepare sales-related documents throughout the sales process (e.g., proposals, contracts, or banquet event orders)
- Liaise with Group Convener to finalize group details (Rooming list, shuttle requests, VIPs, CRM, special requests, etc.)
- Prepare sales reports on weekly basis.
- Ensure all catering menus and resources are up to date
- Oversee, lead and participate in onsite set-up, service and tear-down of events
- Book event space, arrange food and beverage, audio visual and ensure appropriate décor to meet/exceed the expectations of the client
- Create and revise room layouts for each event
- Participate in various sales, revenue and catering meetings, pre-event meetings, training and other sales-related meetings as required
- Develop/maintain knowledge of market trends, competition and help increase food and beverage clients and its pipeline.
- Assists with competitive reports, market shops and/or competition data collection
- Some evenings and weekend shifts may be required to meet business and customer requirements.
- Developing and maintaining positive working relationships with other departments. Ensuring adherence to quality expectations and standards
- Working with the DOS on promotional pieces required to assist in creating awareness and selling of hotel’s meeting space including seasonal pieces, social media or specials
- Posting all meeting room, catering and audio-visual charges and following up on any accounting queries and problems
- Collaborate and provide support on social media channels including Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn with content creation and social customer service
- Performing other reasonable job duties as requested by the Director of Sales and the General Manager
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English. Knowledge of other languages an asset
- Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written
- General knowledge of all department hotel operations
- Ability to communicate customer needs and resolve complaints independently
- Ability to work with hotel objectives and achieve defined goals.
- Ability to prospect and solicit old and new catering business opportunities.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
Education and Experience
- Post-secondary education in Sales, Events, Hospitality or equivalent preferred
- Experience with creating and working with BEOs
- Extremely detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Minimum of 1 year of banquet and catering experience.
- Experience in event planning is a plus.
- Experience in Outbound sales, i.e. cold calling, cold emailing, or even cold texting to generate catering clients a plus.
- Proven commitment to superior customer service
- Ability to work outside regular office hours when needed
- Strong literacy and computer skills, both verbal and written. With Computer knowledge in: Excel, Word, internet, email, Delphi, etc.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $45,000.00-$48,000.00 per year
