The Sales Engineering Manager oversees the generation and development of solutions tailored to our customers' needs. Working closely with the sales team, this role crafts solutions and proposals precisely meeting customer requirements.
This position plays a crucial role in leading the day-to-day activities of our Sales Engineers, as well as overseeing the pricing and project budgets for the company.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conceptualization
- Define technical conceptualization of mechanical equipment to meet engineering principles and company standards.
- Develop new product designs incorporating the latest technology.
Management and Technical Support
- Track and maintain list of all new inquiries and publish for use by sales team.
- Lead the documentation control process including setting standards for electronic filing of quote packages, customer and vendor information, sales engineering tools, etc.
- Train and schedule workload for all sales engineers including performing annual performance reviews.
- In conjunction with sales, review and respond to customer quotation requests including preparing RFQ documents, necessary conforming bids, general arrangement drawings, estimates, and technical proposal.
- Coordinate quote and sales kickoff meetings. Attend virtual meetings with customer and sales, transcribing notes and information relevant to proposal process.
- Review sales engineering design of general arrangement drawing to illustrate the relation of proposed installation to customer facility.
- Review sales engineering preliminary budgets for proposed equipment and technical proposals.
- Oversee and maintain proposal and drawing templates and machine pricing.
- In coordination with purchasing and accounting, lead a yearly review of labor and material analysis with President, VP and Sales Manager.
- Oversee the sales order entry process in coordination with sales, accounting, engineering, service and purchasing.
- Enter budgets in MRP accounting system ensuring accuracy.
Customer Support
- Review customer requirements for compliance with engineering principles, and company standards.
- Facilitate review meetings with vendors, salesmen or engineering for project design and function.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Discipline required.
- Strong financial acumen with proven experience with pricing methodologies, cost structures and budgeting desired.
- Related experience in manufacturing or project management desired.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office required. Inventor or SolidWorks and MS Project desired.
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, motion and control components a plus.
- Ability to successfully collaborate with engineers, vendors, and customers required.
- Proven track record of being self-motivated, working with minimal supervision, and leading and partnering with diverse team members required.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently, retain a sense of urgency and meet strict timelines required.
- Conduct oneself with the highest level of professionalism and ethical standards.
